CRMC dates and classes confirmed
The CRMC will again host the 2018 ACU Classic 500 and Post Classic championships, with rounds at all CRMC meetings that will make both championships seven round series. The prize fund will remain the same, with £1000 per round up for grabs. The venues are: March 31-1 April Pembrey; April 28 -29 Snetterton (200 Circuit); May 26 -28 Oulton Park (International Circuit); July 7- 8 Darley Moor; August 3-5 Donington Park (National Circuit); September 8-9 Mallory Park; October 6-7 Cadwell Park (Full Circuit). The ACU Post Classic 350 Championship has been amalgamated with the CRMC King of the Classics Championship and known as the ACU Post Classic Championship open to all Post Classic machines registered with the CRMC. The CRMC is taking advantage of the late May Bank Holiday, May 26-28, to create a two day meeting at Oulton Park at which racing on a Sunday is not an option. The Saturday and Monday race day format will be preceded by a classic track day on the Friday organised by Classic Bike Track Days. The club and Oulton Park have plans to provide entertainment in the paddock on the Sunday. For more information check the CRMC website and Classic Racer.
The FIM Europe Vintage Commission has announced a five round championship for 2018, with the best four rounds to count. The venues and dates are: April 28-29 Croix en Ternois (France); June 22-24, Sachsenring (Germany); June 29 – July 1 Anderstorp (Sweden); August 3-5 Donington Park (UK). The date for Rijeka (Croatia) is still to be announced.
There are some changes to the FIME classes. The cut-off date for the 50cc class 2b has been moved from Dec 1972 to Dec 1983 to include the GP type machines that competed until the class was withdrawn from the FIM World Championships. The pre 1972 sidecar classes have been ‘rested’ until such time that support returns, and replaced with pre 1983 F/era type sidecars.
