Manx Ra­dio con­tin­ues South­ern 100 link-up


South­ern 100 Rac­ing has an­nounced that Manx Ra­dio will con­tinue to be the of­fi­cial broad­cast part­ner for all the races held on the Bil­lown course for 2018. Manx Ra­dio has been broad­cast­ing the South­ern 100 since 1964, the PRE-TT Clas­sic since 1988 and the Post-tt since 1991, be­com­ing of­fi­cial broad­cast part­ner for all three events in 2013. Club sec­re­tary Ge­orge Peach said: “As or­gan­iser of three pres­ti­gious events on the Bil­lown course it is im­por­tant that we have first-class com­men­tary, not only around the course keep­ing the spec­ta­tors in­formed but also via the ra­dio, web­site and apps to what is now a world­wide au­di­ence.” Manx Ra­dio’s Alex Brind­ley com­mented: “As the Isle of Man’s na­tional pub­lic ser­vice broad­caster, Manx Ra­dio is de­lighted to be con­tin­u­ing its sup­port of such a key part of the Is­land’s sport­ing cal­en­dar in the South­ern 100 and Pre- and Post-tt races.” This year sees the 30th an­niver­sary of the Black­ford’s PRE-TT Clas­sic Road Races. The dates for the 2018 road races on the Bil­lown course are: Black­ford’s PRE-TT Clas­sic Road Races, Fri­day, Satur­day and Sun­day, May 25, 26 and 27. Should the Satur­day prac­tice on the TT course not take place, the main race day for the PRE-TT Clas­sic Road Races will move to Bank Hol­i­day Mon­day, May 28. The Rad­cliffe Butch­ers Post-tt Road Races run on Satur­day, June 9. The Isle of Man Steam Packet Com­pany In­ter­na­tional South­ern 100 Road Races take place on Mon­day, Tues­day, Wed­nes­day and Thurs­day, July 9, 10, 11 and 12th. Reg­u­la­tions are avail­able for the Black­ford Fi­nan­cial Ser­vices PRE-TT Clas­sic Road Races if you haven’t al­ready got your en­try in, from the of­fi­cial web­site www.south­ Af­ter the death of June Beard­more in De­cem­ber 2017, South­ern 100 Rac­ing has been in­formed that her hus­band John died in hospi­tal on Mon­day, Jan­u­ary 8. Both John and June were long-time sup­port­ers of the South­ern 100 Road Races and had been at­tend­ing the races at Bil­lown for more than 40 years.
