UK riders shine in FIM European road race championships
The UK scooped a total of 10 medals in this year’s FIM Europe Vintage Road Race Championship that hosted rounds in Germany, Sweden, Croatia and the UK. Richard Peers Jones took the gold medal in the Forgotten Era 350 class, silver medals went to Peter Howarth (Forgotten Era 350), Paul Allender (Forgotten Era 1300) and Stuart Mcdonald in the 200cc classes, whilst bronze medals were won by Peter Henwood (200cc), Charles Murdoch (250cc and 350cc classes), David Whitehouse (500cc class), Alan Major (750cc) and Mike Smith (Forgotten Era 350).

New classes introduced in FIM Europe Vintage Road Race Championship
Two new classes for later machines have been introduced to the FIME 2019 Vintage Road Race Championships. Class 9a is for 351cc- 500cc Twostrokes manufactured before 31/12/1983, 601cc-1300cc four-stroke manufactured before 31/12/1983, and 750cc fourstroke motorcycles manufactured before 31/12/1987. Class 9b caters for up to 350cc two-stroke motorcycles and up to 600cc four- stroke motorcycles manufactured before the end of 1987.
CRMC break new ground at Castle Combe
The 2019 CRMC season fires up with a full programme of solo and sidecar races at Castle Combe over the weekend 6-7 April. In recent times motorcycle race meetings have been confined to the one North Glos Grand National meeting per year and so the CRMC are delighted to add a CRMC meeting to the Wiltshire circuit’s 2019 fixture list.
New CRMC Sidecar Class.
The CRMC are looking at a new P4 class to complement the existing 750cc and 1300cc sidecar classes. The P4 class will target twostroke engined outfits in particular that are currently restricted to a pre-1967 cut-off date. For further information on the P4 class contact Ian Johnson on 07889 731150.
Classic Motorcycle Festival Donington Park
The 2019 CRMC Festival meeting at Donington Park will be a two-day meeting, having previously been three days, on August 3/4. The Grand Prix bike display will be sited on the Melbourne Loop part of the circuit, an arrangement which worked well in 2018 and allowed more space for everyone, compared to previous displays in the old indoor Paddock Suite. ACU Championship report
George Parrot’s Team Minnovation riders made a clean sweep of the ACU Classic 500 and Post Classic Championships after both events went down to the wire. The ACU 500 class was especially close, decided by a single point in favour of Lee Hodge over the ACU Post Classic Champion Joe Barton.
CRMC Classic Racer Championship
In his first season aboard the RPS Triumph Alan Major romped to the CRMC Classic 1300cc Championship with nine wins along the way. Kevin Van de Worp, also new to the class, finished second on his 1120cc Moto Guzzi and completing the top three, Mike Smith on his 930cc Triple. The championship is sponsored by the Classic Racer magazine syndicate comprised of Classic Racer magazine, Foxley Starters, Woodford Motorcycles, Sport Pics and Tony Dawson that made awards to the top seven.
2019 CRMC race dates
The season kicks off on April 6/7 at Castle Combe, followed by May 4/5 Pembrey, June 8/9 Cadwell Park, July 6/7 Anglesey (Coastal Circuit), August 3/4 Donington Park (National Circuit), August 31- September 1 Mallory Park, with the final meeting at September 28/29 Snetterton (200 Circuit).
