Bonham Statue Unveiled

And Page gains the upper hand in Robbie Williams spat.

-

A statue of John Bonham has been erected in his home town of Redditch to mark what would have been the late Led Zeppelin drummer’s 70th birthday. The bronze statue, sculpted by artist Mark Richards and made possible thanks to years of fundraising by the John Bonham Memorial Fund, is situated in the town centre’s Mercian Square. Bonham died at the age of 32 on September 25, 1980.

Meanwhile, the legal battle between Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and his neighbour, former Take That member Robbie Williams, rumbles on. Page told reporters he was “very pleased” that Kensington & Chelsea London Borough Council forced Williams to delay plans for an underground swimming pool. Page believes the works could have “catastrophic consequences” for his own mansion.

The dispute began five years ago when Williams bought his Kensington home, and reached its nadir when he performed a segment of Whole Lotta Love at a live show, changing the lyrics to: ‘I’m gonna dig a big hole and fill it full of shit.’ He later apologised. DL
