Ryan Roxie
Imagine Your Reality
Roxie gets his rocks off
Best known for being Alice Cooper’s longserving lead guitarist,
Ryan Roxie ought to be better known in his own right.
Tagged as his first official solo album (cheekily ignoring Roxie 77 and Dad’s Porno
Mag), Imagine Your Reality is, predictably, effortlessly catchy and efficient throughout its 10 tracks. Roxie knows his way around a riff, and his love of Cheap Trick seems to know no bounds; while that band’s Robin Zander provides guest vocals on a rambunctious rendition of California Man, the CT influence is shot through the entire album, with Big Rock Show and Me Generation particularly potent examples of barbed hookladen rock’n’roll. Elsewhere the storming To Live And Die In LA owes more than a few drinks to AC/DC’s Let There Be Rock, and Heart’s In Trouble puts the Peter Gunn theme through the poprockabilly mill.
A consummate hard-rocking showcase.
