Thee MVPs

Science Fiction EEASY

- Julian Marszalek

A revved-up and rambunctious rock’n’rollercoaster ride.

Although they relocated from London to Leeds to save on the rent, garage rockers Thee MVPs have refused to cut any corners when it comes to their music.

Proving that they’re as adept in the studio as they are detonating stages across the UK, Europe and the US on their relentless live schedule, Science Fiction, the band’s second studio album, is as thrilling a record as you’d expect from a band with a work ethic as dedicated as theirs. For them, rock’n’roll isn’t a job, it’s a vocation. Moreover, riffing ramalama frequently collides with fierce intelligence as the perils of the digital age are stomped into the dirt. Ship Episode Planet Episode sets the furious pace, while the doublewhammy knockout of Funeral I And Iii and US Airways are the equal of Ty Segall.

Exhilarating throughout, this is exactly what’s needed during rock’n’roll’s enforced lockdown and its eventual return. ■■■■■■■■■■
