A fascinating Paramount tourer was the centre of attention during the Classic Vehicles Day at Dereham Station on the Mid Norfolk Railway on 15 October. Founded by former RAF men WA Hudson and S Underwood, the firm built an estimated 72 cars from 1950-’56.

Pauline and Lloyd Smith bought their 1½-litre late model about five years ago. It features a tubular steel chassis, with aluminium bodywork over an ash frame and is powered by a 1508cc Ford Consul engine, with a three-speed manual gearbox.

“We’ve recently returned from a trip to Brussels,” enthused Lloyd. “It cruises happily at 50-60mph.”
