Al­lard pro­ject up for grabs

Bob Mccutcheon was well known in the Stir­ling area as a his­to­rian and an­ti­quar­ian book­seller. He was also a car en­thu­si­ast with an in­ter­est in Jaguars, but in 1974 he bought a ’53 Al­lard Palm Beach, FES 888. He soon wanted more power, and sub­sti­tuted a Jaguar en­gine for the orig­i­nal Ford Ze­phyr unit.

“My late hus­band was good at tak­ing things apart, then do­ing noth­ing,” said his widow Mar­garet, and both the Ford and Jaguar en­gines later went miss­ing. “The car was stripped for restora­tion, all the bits and pieces were boxed and kept safe.
