FERRARI EXPANDS HISTORIC SIDE

-

As the Prancing Horse’s 70th anniversary celebrations draw to a close, 48 Ferrari dealerships in 20 markets around the globe have been named as Ferrari Classiche Authorised Workshops. Individually known as Officina (Italian for workshop), the specialists are sanctioned by the factory in Maranello to implement the Classiche certification process as well as undertaking the repair and maintenance of all Ferrari models of over 20 years old.

Each Officina will have the direct support of Ferrari Classiche in Italy (see C&SC, Summer 2017), and in return must commit to maintaining a dedicated workshop bay as well as employing a factory-trained service technician exclusively for handling the marque’s historic models. Work that necessitates the reconstruction of any major components that may be required for the purposes of Certification will still be carried out by Ferrari Classiche in Maranello.

Nine British dealers have been awarded Authorised Workshop status. In the south of England these are Dick Lovett of Swindon, Lancaster of Colchester in Essex, Maranello Service of Egham and Meridien Modena of Lyndhurst in the New Forest. HR Owen and Joe Macari will cover the London area, while Graypaul of Nottingham will handle the Midlands. JCT600 of Leeds and Stratstone of Manchester complete the UK network.

According to a Ferrari spokesman, the factory-led initiative will continue to develop in the future, with additional dealerships from around the planet set to be added as the programme expands. For more details, see www.ferrari.com
