There are always tasty morsels up for grabs at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, but some unrestored gems caught our attention this year. A ’59 Triumph TR3A being offered by RI Johnson (01676 541137) was among our favourites; most of the mechanicals had been rebuilt and, beneath the wonderfully patinated paint, the body appeared sound. Alongside it, a ’57 XK140 looked equally alluring.

The matching-numbers fixed-head had a C-type head, was beautifully timeworn and priced at £39,500.

Just across the hall, a brace of MG SAS was an unexpected sight. A Tickford drophead and a saloon, both were partially dismantled and in primer. The cars’ vendor was open to offers: 0049 151 5806 0666.
