Prices keep on climbing
Hagerty’s latest UK price guide shows that, on the whole, classic car values continue to rise. In particular, the firm’s Classic Index (which tracks the 50 most influential models on the British market) was up by 2.16% in the third quarter of 2017 – and 5.3% over the past 12 months. Of those 50 cars, in the 12 months to October 2017 a total of 11 had dropped in value, 14 were in effect unchanged and the remaining 25 rose.
Notable gains include the Alfa Romeo Duetto (+29.3%), Datsun 240Z (+23.2%) and the VW Golf GTI Mk1 (+21%). Among the classics to have suffered a drop in values, the firm cites the Mk2 Jaguar 3.8 (-13.1%), De Lorean DMC-12 (-7.3%) and Ferrari Testarossa (-6.49%). For more, see www.hagertyinsurance.co.uk
