Cheryl: “I’ve always dreamed of being in a happy marriage”
Pals say the loved-up singer is considering a quickie ceremony to make things official with toyboy Liam
She’s kept everyone guessing over the birth of her first child with boyfriend Liam Payne, with everyone eagerly awaiting confirmation the showbiz baby has arrived.
But pals say that despite her determination to keep family life private and shun the media spotlight, Cheryl is keen to start talking about setting a wedding date with Liam so she can feel “safe and secure” with her baby.
Last week, reports claimed there was a security breach after a Google “blunder” revealed Cheryl and Liam’s exact address.
A source reveals: “Understandably Cheryl is feeling emotional and quite vulnerable at the moment, which was made worse by last week’s security breach. She sees marriage to Liam as confirmation that they are locked into a proper, stable relationship. She’s quite traditional and has dreamed of her children being born into a happy marriage.”
FAILED MARRIAGES
Sources previously revealed to Closer that Cheryl, 33, and Liam, 23 – who went public with their romance in February 2016 – had clashed over wedding plans, with Liam wanting a big party while Cheryl preferred the idea of a more intimate affair.
Cheryl has already suffered two failed marriages in the past, splitting from first husband Ashley Cole in 2010 after five years together and second husband Jean-bernard Fernandez-versini in late 2015, just 18 months after tying the knot.
HEALTH FEARS
A source says: “Because this will be her third marriage, Cheryl doesn’t want a circus. She’d rather have just close friends and family. She’d also love their baby to be sitting on their laps in the wedding photos. But in contrast, Liam would still like a huge celebration. He wants to shout about their wedding from the rooftops.”
Prior to her romance with Liam, Cheryl endured a difficult few years. She caused concern in the summer of 2015 when her weight plummeted, leaving her looking gaunt and pale. At the time, the singer insisted she was grieving the death of her father-in-law. But in their divorce papers, she blamed the “stress” of being married to the French restaurateur for her drastic weight loss, insisting JB’S “unreasonable behaviour” affected her health.
QUICKIE WEDDING
Insiders say that while Liam is besotted with Cheryl, he’s conscious she’s only just finalised her second divorce, which raged on for nearly a year after the split.
A source reveals: “It was a very difficult situation for Cheryl to deal with, particularly after enduring such a stressful marriage to JB. Liam really wants to be married to Cheryl, but he doesn’t want to pile too much pressure on her. Whatever they decide, they’re both determined that they’ll do what is right for them.”
A source adds: “Liam and Cheryl are very loved-up. No one would be surprised if they decided to do a secret quickie wedding, and Cheryl would be really excited by this idea because it would coincide with the new baby. This new chapter is so exciting for both of them.”
