Michelle tells Mark: “Stay away from your ex”
Insiders reveal Michelle Keegan is unsettled as Mark Wright visits LA at the same time as his ex Lucy Mecklenburgh
They touched down in LA within hours of each other last week, and as Mark Wright and Lucy Mecklenburgh stayed just miles apart while hitting the same celebrity haunts, Mark’s wife Michelle Keegan issued him with a stern warning over his ex.
According to insiders, when Michelle, 29, got wind that Lucy – who was seen heading to an LA nightclub with Chris Eubank Jr last week – was staying in the same city as her husband, she worried he may end up bumping into his stunning former TOWIE co-star.
A source reveals: “Michelle completely trusts Mark but, as soon as she saw on social media that Lucy was also in LA at the exact same time, she called and asked him to stay away from her. Michelle knows how easy it is to bump into people you know in LA, especially as British stars mix in the same circles there.
“She asked Mark not to head to the Coachella music festival at the weekend, knowing they’d be likely to see one another in the VIP area – but Mark told her he was as surprised as she was to hear that Lucy was in LA, and assured her they’d be unlikely to see each other.”
SECRET FLING
Mark, 30, and 25-year-old Lucy – who are both trying to carve out modelling and presenting careers in America – dated briefly in 2011. They caused a stir on TOWIE when they were accused of having a secret fling behind the back of Lucy’s then-boyfriend Mario Falcone, causing them to break up.
Lucy – who started dating handyman Nathan Sharpe after splitting from Olympic gymnast Louis Smith, 27, last February – also admitted in June 2011 that Mark had cheated with her on his then-fiancé Lauren Goodger shortly after they got engaged, revealing that he was the one chasing her.
Things turned ugly between the exes two years later when Lucy mocked Mark’s sex skills and cocky attitude, comparing him to her new man, The Wanted’s Max George – who was once engaged to Michelle.
Her comments prompted Mark to go on an explosive Twitter rant. He said at the time: “Nothing but a kiss and tell girl with no class or dignity.”
Closer has previously revealed how former Corrie actress Michelle – who’s about to jet off for an eight-month stint in South Africa filming the new series of Our Girl – has been wary of Mark’s exes in the past.
ONLINE FEUDS
Insiders previously revealed she was behind Mark’s Tweet to Lauren in 2015, telling her to “start having some respect and move on” after Lauren referenced Mark on social media.
Michelle has reportedly struggled to deal with being around Mark’s former flames, including Lauren, 30, when she moved to be with Mark in 2014.
A source says: “Michelle hates the attention any spat with other celebs has on them. She thinks the TOWIE lot thrive off drama and it’s impossible for them to avoid it. She knows Mark and Lucy have history and she’s urging him not to speak to or enter into any further spats with Lucy as she knows it’ll cause drama.
“Mark’s reassured her he wants nothing to do with Lucy and would be steering clear. He’s told Michelle she has nothing to worry about.”
