Steph’s pals beg: “Don’t rush into tying the knot with Jeremy”

With on/off boyfriend Jeremy Mcconnell halfway through his rehab stint, Stephanie Davis’ pals urge her not to race ahead with wedding plans

Despite their troubled relationship history, Stephanie Davis declared her unwavering love for Jeremy Mcconnell – with whom she has threemonth-old son Caben-albi – in a gushing Instagram post last week.

Making a public statement on the romance, Steph, 24, wrote: “We have been through the most major ups and downs. He’s been wrong, I’ve been wrong… but I LOVE him.”

She defiantly added: “He is my soul mate and I love him, you never give up on the one you love do you... I will stand by him always and love him unconditionally, he may seem a nightmare, but he’s my nightmare.”

Her outpouring came after Closer revealed last week that the former Hollyoaks actress is busy planning a new life as a family with Jeremy and Caben, when the 27-year-old Irish model leaves his six-week rehab programme for alcohol and drug abuse next month.

A ROCKY RELATIONSHIP

Now insiders say those close to Steph are begging her to slow down to avoid further heartbreak.

A source says: “Steph’s friends and family have seen her at her lowest over Jeremy. When things go wrong between them, she’s left at rock bottom – no one wants that to happen again. Steph has her heart set on Jeremy moving into her house.”

The source adds: “She’s desperate for a fairy-tale ending after all the drama and heartache. She just wants to start a new chapter. She is adamant his treatment is the answer to their problems and when he leaves rehab she wants to give him the security of a stable relationship as a married couple and a loving home.

“Her mind is racing with wedding plans, but everyone is shocked by the speed she’s moving at and begging her not to get ahead of herself and rush into marriage.”

The couple met in January 2016 on Celebrity Big Brother, but their short-lived relationship came to an explosive end just four months later amid claims Jeremy had cheated on her.

Things reached a head weeks later when Jeremy denied her claims that he was the father of Stephanie’s baby. However, after a public DNA test, which he did live on This Morning, they reunited in February, and it wasn’t long before they were pictured in public looking loved-up.

But just when things seemed to be back on track, their happy ending was put in jeopardy after Jeremy was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assault at Steph’s home on 16 March. He was later released.

A source says: “No matter how many times Steph and Jeremy promise to get their relationship back on track, they can never escape drama for too long. They’re both fiery characters – every time they seem to take a step forward, something goes wrong.

“Her friends and family are terrified of everything falling apart – they don’t know how she’ll cope if her dreams of a happy future come crashing down again. They have short spells of happiness together, but it’s never long before trouble comes their way again.”

FAMILY DREAMS

While Jeremy is just halfway through his rehab stint, pals say Steph is confident he won’t mess up again and has insisted that, despite their chequered history, they’ll make things work.

A source says: “Steph still loves the idea of being with Jeremy, despite the fact their relationship has always been tarnished by problems. She’s adamant they’ll be able make it work this time, despite the concerns of everyone around her.

“When Jeremy leaves rehab, she plans to do everything within her power to create the secure family environment she wants for Caben.”
