Ferne: “I go for the mean boys”

Ferne Mccann – whose estranged boyfriend Arthur Collins was last week wanted by police in connection with an acid attack – bared all when she spoke to Closer about her love life

erne Mccann’s world was F rocked beyond recognition last week when it was revealed her boyfriend Arthur Collins was being hunted by police in connection to a shocking acid attack at east London club Mangle.

Following the attack, which left 20 people injured and a 22-year-old woman blind in one eye, reports surfaced that police raided a £1 million property in Hertfordshire as part of the investigation. The raid resulted in two arrests and allegedly the discovery of illegal firearms and a cannabis farm.

In a cruel twist, the news surfaced just hours after an interview was published in which Ferne, 26, publicly declared her love for Arthur, 25. She gushed that he was “definitely The One,” revealed they were moving in together next month and spoke of their marriage plans.

A BITTER BLOW

Her spokesperson later released a statement saying: “Ferne is aware that the police wish to speak to Arthur Collins and the nature of the accusations against him. Obviously these are highly shocking and Ferne has co-operated with the police in their inquiries. She was not with Arthur on Sunday night; was not at Mangle; and has no direct knowledge of the events that unfolded. As much as anybody, she wants to know the truth and urges Arthur to co-operate fully with the police and attend a police station immediately.”

Ferne later unfollowed him on social media. It’s a bitter blow for the former TOWIE star. Last week, there were reports that her guest-presenting role on This Morning was in jeopardy and that she was taking a few weeks off from filming. Speaking exclusively to Closer prior to the incident and during a temporary split from Arthur, Ferne – who was previously linked to Russell Brand and footballer Dele Alli – revealed her love of bad boys.

TRUE ROMANTIC

She says: “I am a true romantic, I really want to settle down. I’m always going for similar sorts of guys and it’s just not working for me at the moment. I know what qualities I’m after but I never seem to go for those. I go for mean boys. I’m not confident when it comes to men.”

Ferne met Arthur on Instagram last year and, shortly afterwards, old Facebook posts of him bragging about drugs surfaced in the press. The couple split last year before reuniting in March. Earlier this month, he shared a video on Snapchat which appeared to show him with balloons of nitrous oxide while driving his car.

Defending his controversial past only days before last week’s scandal, Ferne – who previously revealed Arthur wasn’t “clean cut” – said: “He’s a very good boy. Those Facebook posts were nine years ago. We

SO IN LOVE

all did silly things when we were teenagers.”

Last week, footballer Jamie O’hara, whose cousin was a victim of the acid attack, Tweeted: “Seriously what is with these girls that wanna go with these wannabe gangsters, be with someone you’d want your daughter to be with [sic].” Ferne – who dated her former TOWIE co-star Charlie Sims for five years – has also admitted she wants a man strong enough to stand up to her. She tells Closer: “When I have a boyfriend, I am mental. I want someone kind but firm – he needs to be firm with Ferne.”

And she also admits that Arthur was just the man to rein her in. Speaking last week, she said: “Arthur is probably not who my type used to be. But I love him so much that it doesn’t matter. He’s the man that I want to be with now and I can’t see that ever changing.

“He puts me in my place in a good way. I don’t need a pushover. He’s a real man. That’s what I love about him. Arthur’s one of seven and family is so important to me. I love it at his house, there’s never a dull moment.”
