Steph: “I want another baby with Jeremy – we’ll have our fairy-tale ending”
Stephanie Davis opens up to Closer’s Annabelle Lee about finally finding happiness with Jeremy Mcconnell, their plans for moving in, marriage and more babies
We’re not quite sure what to expect when Stephanie Davis arrives at our exclusive photo shoot with her
gorgeous four-month-old son Caben-albi. The past 18 months have been a roller coaster for the star, and we’re unsure what the latest news is with her on-off boyfriend Jeremy Mcconnell. But the beaming smile on Steph’s face when she arrives indicates things might finally be working out for her.
Flaunting an incredibly slender figure for a new mum, the former Hollyoaks star is warm, friendly and radiating happiness as she confesses that her turbulent romance with the Irish model is firmly back on track.
“I know a lot has happened and it might seem strange to some people, but me and Jez have always loved each other,” Steph explains, as she cuddles little Caben. “The love never went away between us and we’ve both done things we regret, but hopefully this can be our fresh start. I finally feel like things are falling into place and we both adore Caben. I still feel emotional about everything but I’m just so happy now; I just want us to have a normal happy life.”
Since they met on Celebrity Big Brother last January, Steph and Jeremy’s relationship has been dogged by controversy. They split last April amid allegations Jeremy was cheating and, just a month later, Steph discovered she was pregnant and was devastated when Jeremy initially denied being the father.
ROCK BOTTOM
After reuniting briefly after baby Caben was born in January, Jeremy was arrested over suspicion of assault and criminal damage to Steph’s home in March, but was
later released. They subsequently split and it surfaced that Jeremy had been battling alcohol and drug addictions throughout their relationship.
But just weeks ago, after hitting rock bottom, the Irish model – who has admitted to struggling with depression after losing his mum, brother and sister in the space of 15 months when he was a teenager, then his father in March – decided to admit himself to rehab after months of Steph continually
trying to persuade him to go. Now Steph says Jeremy’s made it clear he’s keen to start afresh with their baby son. She admits she has never been happier or more hopeful of her future with Jeremy and says the pair are already planning their new life together – as well as another baby to add to their family at some point if everything continues to go well.
“I can’t tell you the relief I felt when Jez rang me and told me he was going to go to rehab,” she says. “It was everything I’ve wanted to hear for so long and I couldn’t be prouder of him for getting the help he needs. He’s great with Caben and has the potential to be an amazing dad. I can’t wait for them to be able to spend more time together.”
Jeremy is due to leave rehab shortly and he plans to move into the family home in Liverpool with Steph and Caben. Steph continues: “I want to do family things like day trips, cooking together at home, watching films with Caben and having date nights. I’m very easily pleased, and that family life is all I’ve ever wanted. I know this takes time to build but we are both willing to do our best to see a happy ending. “We’ve both talked about having another baby at some point. For Jez, it’s about wanting to put right what he did wrong and be there throughout my next pregnancy. And I’m so broody – I’d love to give Caben a little sister one day.”
WEDDING PLANS
She adds: “But I also want Jez to be there this time and for him to realise how hard pregnancy is! It would be special to go through it together the next time around. We want three kids eventually and it would be good to get them all out of the way. But my mum says: ‘Please just wait a year, I can’t cope with your lives!’”
Steph, 24, also reveals marriage could be on the cards in the future.
“We’ll probably wait a bit until everything is settled,” she says. “But I can’t wait to marry him one day. I want that moment of getting to the end of the aisle and thinking, ‘we did it.’ When the time comes, I want a traditional wedding. I’ll do it properly: in
