Why desperate Jordan loves stirring up controversy

● Jordan sparks another ‘animal cruelty’ backlash ● Pals say her attention-seeking behaviour is driven by her obsession with fame ● Insiders claim her wild antics are causing tension with husband Kieran

She’s no stranger S to controversy and, last week, Jordan provoked outrage when she Instagrammed a photo of herself wearing real fur sliders and captioned it: “Off on a road trip @realfurslide.” The post met with a barrage of criticism as the former glamour model – who has talked openly in the past about her love for animals – was branded as “vile,” a “hypocrite” and had her behaviour blasted as “barbaric.” It was a brazen move for Jordan, 38 – real name Katie Price – who last year became embroiled in a series of cruelty scandals.

In November, she came under fire for sharing a picture of herself in a raccoon fur coat and hat, and shortly after she said she didn’t need to “defend or explain” herself when daughters Princess, nine, and Bunny, two, were pictured wearing similar hats.

animal ‘accessories’

In October, she received backlash for posting a picture on Instagram of a dead bird she’d hit with her car – which she later deleted – and earlier that year she was accused of treating her animals like “accessories” when she shaved hearts into her ponies’ hair.

And during the launch of her TV show Pony Club in April, she posed alongside a horse

that was dyed pink, and dressed in a tutu and a unicorn horn.

Talking to Closer, PETA spokesperson Mimi Bekhechi says: “Katie seems to be making a career out of upsetting people by wearing the fur of tormented animals. One wonders if she’ll ever get over herself enough to use her public profile to help, rather than hurt, animals.”

But when we caught up with Jordan at the launch of her nutrition range last week, she wasn’t fazed by the animal cruelty controversy, telling Closer: “People can say what they want about me. I wear what I want to wear and I don’t have to answer for what I do or don’t want to wear.”

PROVOKING HATERS

A source reveals: “Katie’s obsessed with fame. She is deliberately controversial in order to attract headlines and she doesn’t care if she offends or gets backlash. She loves publicity and this can sometimes impact on her marriage or friendships.

“Katie gets her kicks from creating drama. She loves provoking people as it stirs up loads of haters, but also lots of people sticking up for her – she also likes it when people are on her side. She knows it’s all good ammunition for her antitrolling and online bullying campaigns, and ultimately boosts her profile.”

Jordan also hit the headlines last week when she was told off twice for saying the n-word during an appearance on This Morning. She was discussing the online bullying her disabled son Harvey, 15, has been subjected to, and her campaign for tougher punishments for web trolls – but she received criticism from Twitter followers for “leaving him open to abuse” after putting him on her reality shows.

And pals say Jordan doesn’t mind being trolled herself. An insider reveals: “The campaigns around Harvey are the ones she feels genuinely passionate about – it’s not attention-seeking then; she’s really on a mission.

“The rest of the time she enjoys being at the centre of the drama. She made a name for herself by shocking people with her wild party-girl antics, but now she’s older she loves using her relationships and controversial behaviour to stay in the spotlight. It’s all she’s ever known as an adult and she can’t stop behaving that way.”

UNHAPPY

Jordan – who’s had a turbulent four-year marriage to Kieran Hayler and last week posed for pictures at the launch of her new fitness clothing range without her wedding ring – became famous for her no-holds-barred attitude, multiple cosmetic procedures and shocking antics.

But pals say her attentionseeking is a way of masking when she’s in pain and unhappy.

As Closer previously reported, Jordan’s still struggling to recover from 30-year-old Kieran’s cheating in 2014, and is unhappy that she’s still not pregnant with the sixth child she’s longing for. She’s also still battling her insecurity over her looks as her 39th birthday approaches on 22 May.

A source says: “Deep down Jordan is vulnerable – she’s not happy with her life. She loves Kieran and wants to make things work, but instead of focusing on the real issues and healing her marriage, she throws all her energy into creating a media storm as a way to distract herself from what really matters. And while she’s stoking up controversy, she has less time for the people who really care about her. But sadly it seems she doesn’t know how to stop.”
