Ferne’s fears over life as a single mum

Following the arrest of her boyfriend Arthur Collins, reality star Ferne Mccann faces up to coping with pregnancy and motherhood single-handedly

- By Daisy Mclure

As her exboyfriend A Arthur Collins was charged over a recent acid attack at an east London nightclub, Ferne Mccann shockingly revealed last week that she’s in the early stages of pregnancy with his child.

Arthur’s arrest followed an attack at the Mangle E8 club on 17 April, in which 20 people were injured and two people were left partially blind. He was later charged with 14 counts of grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of throwing corrosive fluid on a person.

The 24-year-old went on the run for a week after the incident, but was caught by police in a dramatic showdown at a house in Northamptonshire. Arthur was captured on camera trying to escape arrest by jumping from a window while in his boxers, and was later Tasered by police as he tried to flee.

OVERWHELMED

Insiders say Ferne, 26, is understandably scared about facing pregnancy and motherhood alone, but is determined to stay strong and be “an amazing mum.”

A source says: “Ferne’s life has come crashing in on her – she’s completely heartbroken over what’s happened. She’s spent the past few days hiding away while she attempts to process what’s going on. Her friends are worried about her, and of course she’s worried about how she’s going to do it by herself. The thought of being pregnant alone then coping with the birth and a newborn as a single mum sometimes feels overwhelming But she’s determined to focus on the baby and be the best mum possible.”

PLANS TO MARRY

The situation had been made all the more heartbreaking for the former TOWIE star as just days before Arthur was named in connection to the club attack, she admitted the pair had plans to marry in a published interview.

Gushing about their relationship, Ferne revealed they wanted a beach wedding and planned to move in together.

She said: “Moving in is definitely the next step. And I know that seems a bit rushed, but when you know, you know.”

In February, Ferne had confessed she was ready to start a family, saying: “If I was with the right person, I’d have

a baby tomorrow… Some of my friends are on their second baby, engaged, moving in with their man and I’m literally just moving out of my mum’s and on my own. It makes me really sad.”

Pals close to the reality star say she had been keen to start a family with Arthur after watching pals and former TOWIE co-stars Sam and Billie Faiers embrace motherhood. The source says: “Ferne’s been broody for ages. Seeing her friends settle down made her realise that’s the life she wants. She and Arthur had their future mapped out, now it feels like her dreams are in tatters. She’s scared of bringing up her baby alone, but she’s focusing on being a brilliant mum.” As the drama unfolded, Ferne – who was reported to be taking a break from her guest presenter role on This Morning following the scandal – flew to Ireland, a trip her management said was to attend a series of pre-arranged meetings. She was pictured last week landing back in the UK.

keeping a low profile

Now pals say the distraught star is taking time out to consider her future. The source adds: “Her friends have been trying to reach out, but she’s hardly speaking to anyone. She still doesn’t know what her next move is going to be but she’s determined to pull through. She’s reassured friends she’ll find a way. With the support of her family, Ferne plans to raise her child on her own. The baby is her priority and she’ll come back from this stronger than ever for the sake of her child.”
