An appearance A in court and a worrying emergency dash to hospital were the latest dramas for on/off couple Stephanie Davis and Jeremy Mcconnell as their notoriously turbulent love story continued to play out last week. Jeremy pleaded not guilty in court to charges he assaulted Stephanie on 9 March, but admitted damaging her home. He was released on unconditional bail to return to court on 7 August – with claims the former Hollyoaks actress, who has fourmonth-old son Caben-Albi with Jeremy, will be required to give evidence. Following the news, the pair blocked each other on Twitter and Stephanie made her account private.

Just hours after the hearing, reports surfaced that the 27-year-old Irish model had ended their volatile relationship and moved out of Stephanie’s home – despite telling reporters that morning that the pair were still together.

DEEP CONCERNS

Stephanie, 24, allegedly later collapsed at a Premier Inn in her hometown of Liverpool and her representative confirmed she’d been admitted to hospital with a “stress-related illness,” but was expected to make a “quick and full recovery.”

As Closer went to press, there were reports that the couple had made up as they were pictured leaving the hospital together. Jeremy then posted a picture of him cradling Caben.

A source says: “The court case has caused a lot of stress for them both. Jeremy promised Steph that rehab had changed him, but she couldn’t shake off fears he’d revert to his old self and could be tempted to cheat again.

“Jeremy has been under a considerable amount of pressure and they were having arguments because he’d been so short-tempered since finding out he was being charged. Steph is sick of them falling out all the time, but has

told pals that no matter how many times they break up, they’ll always be together.”

Insiders say family and friends are deeply concerned that Stephanie and Jeremy’s ongoing dramas will end in tragedy.

A source says: “Steph’s family are really worried about her. Everyone knows how toxic they are together and they’re worried they’re going to end up destroying each other’s lives.”

The events come just a week after Stephanie exclusively revealed to Closer she wanted a second baby with Jeremy and hoped they’d marry, telling us: “I want another baby with Jeremy – we’ll have our fairy-tale ending.” She added how she hoped their latest reunion would be a “fresh start” and that things were finally “falling into place.”

SUICIDAL

After getting together on Celebrity Big Brother last January, the pair split after just four months amid rumours Jeremy had cheated. A bitter war of words began over social media, with Jeremy initially denying he was the father of Stephanie’s child.

During her pregnancy, the actress was left feeling suicidal over their break-up, saying: “I was in such a dark place after me and Jeremy split… I was suicidal, but Caben gave me something to live for.” They got back together in February this year after Jeremy took a DNA test live on TV, which revealed he was in fact Caben’s father.

But their relationship has continued to be as unpredictable as ever. After Jeremy’s stint in rehab last month to tackle drug and alcohol issues, the couple reunited. But it seemed all was not well after Steph posted an incoherent Tweet about cheating, writing: “Someone who gives you and doesn’t answer, don’t I. There beat a cheat n always n in.” She then deleted the post and vowed to quit drinking, admitting: “I can’t drink because it ruins my life.”

EMOTIONAL WRECK

Jeremy has attributed his drinking to losing his mum, brother and sister within months of each other when he was a teenager. His dad died in March after a short battle with cancer and his aunt died just days after. He then entered rehab. Meanwhile, pals say Stephanie has been an emotional wreck.

Closer’s psychologist Emma Kenny believes their relationship is damaging their mental health. Emma says: “Steph and Jeremy are stuck in a destructive cycle. It’s already having a detrimental effect on their mental health, with Jeremy going to rehab and Steph being hospitalised with stress. Love alone isn’t enough to sustain a relationship – you need security, faithfulness and trust. They need to take a step back from their romance and work through their issues with therapy, otherwise this dangerous pattern of behaviour may continue.”
