‘I’ll help you find a new man to replace Kanye’
Insiders say Kris Jenner is helping daughter Kim plan for a life without Kanye if their marriage crumbles under the strain of him choosing to step away from the limelight
e made the H shock decision to delete all of his social media accounts last week – a stark contrast to his wife Kim Kardashian, one of the world’s most-followed stars, with brands paying her up to £400,000 for one post.
And as Kanye West, 39, temporarily lies low, reports surfaced he was holed-up in a Wyoming retreat working on a new album. He usually takes time out to work on his music, but pals say the rapper’s decision to step away from the showbiz scene could throw his and Kim’s shaky marriage into turmoil.
GROWING APART
Last week, Closer reported how Kim, 36, was struggling to rebuild her three-year marriage following her terrifying jewellery heist in Paris last October, followed by Kanye’s nervous breakdown a month later.
A source says: “Kanye was sick of the haters and sometimes had outbursts when trolls commented on posts. Kim begged him to ignore the comments, as she didn’t want him obsessing over them. Last week, he deleted all his accounts after spiralling into a rage.
“Kim was surprised – it goes against everything she’s worked for. It highlighted how different their lives are. He’s regressed into himself, hiding away in Wyoming. And when he’s at home in LA, apart from when he’s spending time with the kids, it’s as if he’s not really there. Kim’s always stressed the need for them to be in the spotlight, but Kanye doesn’t want to be part of the fame game.”
Kim’s popularity has taken a series of hits in the past few months. She lost 100,000 Instagram followers after the release of un-airbrushed snaps of her bottom, while her younger sisters – Kendall and Kylie Jenner – are constantly stealing the headlines.
As Closer reported last year, Kim feels she was being shut out by the A-list after Kanye’s erratic behaviour. She’s desperate to get back into the limelight – something she tried to do by appearing at last month’s Met Gala on her own.
As the family promoted Kylie’s new reality show, pals say Kim – who’s had cameo roles in TV series 30 Rock and films including Disaster Movie – thinks her ticket to long-lasting success is to move away from reality TV and be a film star. Sources says she hopes that’ll endear her to the A-list celebs.
A source adds: “She’s enlisted an agent and an acting coach – she wants to protect her career from nosediving if her marriage crumbles. She also thinks that’ll help her keep in with the top stars.”
As well as appearing at the Met Gala without Kanye – for the first time in four years – Kim, who’s mum to North, three, and Saint, one, with Kanye, sparked rumours when she posted a picture of personalised family pillows minus one with his name on.
Pals say although Kim loves Kanye and is trying to save their marriage, she’s starting to consider what would happen if it doesn’t work out. And she’s turned to “momager” Kris Jenner, 61, who is wellconnected in Hollywood, with pals including Jennifer Lawrence. Friends say Kris has suggested thinking of potential new partners to help boost Kim’s A-list status and make her feel more confident.
ACTING HOPES
A source says: “Kim’s turned to Kris for help and she’s suggested they start lining up possible husbands to ensure she can still be part of a Hollywood power couple if things don’t work out with Kanye. Kris has told Kim she’ll help her find a new man to replace Kanye if it were to come to that.
“Of course Kim wants the marriage to be a success, but if they did split, Kris suggested an A-list actor could boost Kim’s acting ambitions. Kris suggested someone on par with Ben Affleck, and Kim thinks Idris Elba also has an attractive edge.
“Obviously everyone hopes the marriage can survive, but Kris and Kim are being practical.”
