After her boyfriend Liam Payne confessed she lost her baby weight in just two months, pals say Cheryl is worried a backlash could be brewing

He was unusually H loose-lipped in a series of interviews to promote his new single recently – opening up about his relationship with notoriously private Cheryl, revealing that she hates discussing their 10-year age gap, how they almost split, and admitting that he’s always had a crush on her.
Liam Payne, 23, also revealed how his girlfriend had lost all of her baby weight just two months after giving birth to their son Bear, but still thinks she’s “massive.”
The One Direction star said of Cheryl’s weight worries:
“Pregnancy is hard to deal with, it’s that first pair of jeans you can’t get into and she thinks she’s massive, but she’s already lost all the baby weight.
“She’s like, ‘Oh, I’m so big’ and I’m looking at her going, ‘You are insane woman!’”
SETTING AN EXAMPLE
Sources close to the couple say that Liam’s very outspoken comments have worried Cheryl, 33, who once called for “skinny shaming” to be made illegal after she came under fire for her worryingly tiny frame while on The X Factor judging panel in 2015.
A source says: “Cheryl was far from impressed over some of Liam’s comments. She knows he was just complimenting her and trying to reassure her she looked great, but she’s worried about another public backlash over her weight. She doesn’t want to be perceived as someone who is hung up over losing their baby weight. Cheryl has a lot of young female fans and wants to be relatable to them and set a good example.”
Just as she feared, an online backlash followed Liam’s confession, with one user saying: “She’s either starving herself or constantly exercising when she should be bonding with her newborn. Celebrities are weird.” While another commented: “The multi millionaire has lost weight. Wow. Chef, personal trainer. How did that happen?”
Cheryl’s figure has been under intense public scrutiny in the past, as it has fluctuated throughout the ups and downs in her personal life.
Her weight plummeted to a frail 7st following revelations her first husband, footballer Ashley Cole, cheated on her in 2008; and she was described as a “bag of bones” following her gaunt appearance on The X Factor in 2015, which she later attributed to her marriage breakdown from her second husband Jeanbernard Fernandez-versini.
SELF-CONSCIOUS
Simon Cowell came under fire in 2011 when he referenced how Cheryl had “put on a bit of weight” following her fuller appearance on The US X Factor auditions before her humiliating sacking.
A source says: “Cheryl’s weight is a very sensitive subject given how much criticism she’s had in the past.
“She relaxed her diet and exercise regime while she was pregnant and, while she put on a few more pounds than she felt comfortable with, she wasn’t in any rush to lose it.
“Cheryl is naturally slim and the breastfeeding, together with eating healthy meals, ensured the stone she put on fell off quickly, but she still feels conscious of how her body has changed from pregnancy.”
During a string of interviews last week, Liam revealed that
one song on his upcoming debut album was about how Cheryl tried to end their relationship at one point.
He said: “There’s one song that is basically a phone call that happened between me and her when she was about to let it go.
“It’s basically me trying to cling on and say: ‘No, no, no it’s all going to work out – don’t worry about it, give it time.’”
HIS APOLOGY
To add to Cheryl’s stressful week, ex husband Jean-bernard revealed how he hated life in the spotlight during their two-year marriage after tying the knot in 2014.
The French restaurateur said: “I married someone famous, I was thrust into this mad world. I didn’t like it.”
A source adds: “Cheryl just wants to enjoy her first few months of motherhood without feeling that people are spilling secrets about her.
“Liam apologised and promised to be more mindful about what he says. The last thing he wants is to be the source of any upset.’
