Clean eating Alice: “Exercise changed my life!”

With over half a million followers inspired by her, Alice Liveing – aka Clean Eating Alice – reveals how she dropped two dress sizes

She’s the healthy eating and fitness S guru whose daily meal pics have earned her three book deals. By ditching junk food and taking up weight training, she’s transformed her body from a size 12 to a lean size 8. Now a qualified personal trainer and nutritionist, 24-yearold Alice Liveing says the key to her success was making simple diet changes and finding a workout she enjoyed.

diet Changes

“Three years ago, when I was a student studying musical theatre, I convinced myself I could eat pizza and ice-cream all the time because I was dancing every day,” she admits. “But I always felt tired and lacked strength. The first thing I changed was breakfast. I loved sugary cereals, but I started having eggs instead and the difference was huge. My energy levels improved and I started following people on Instagram who were doing similar things to keep me on track.”

“Now I have eggs for breakfast every day and for lunch I’ll have loads of veg, lentils and rice, while dinner is roast chicken with quinoa and I snack on fruit, Greek yoghurt and peanut butter. But I love going out to eat at weekends and there’s nothing I don’t eat, I just have it in moderation. I enjoy having a drink at the weekend, too.”

Finding a workout Alice could stick to was also a crucial part of her transformation. “I started doing workouts to build up my strength and found it was something I enjoyed and could stick to,” explains Alice, who’s lost around 2st. “I began with basic moves, using my own body weight, and learned as I went along.”

fitness goals

As with diet changes, Alice advises starting with small fitness goals. “Get to grips with basic moves before adding weights to your regime,” says Alice, whose new book Everyday Fitness includes easy-to-follow workouts and healthy recipes. Alice says exercise has changed how she feels. She admits: “It’s changed my life and boosted my confidence. Initially I had to force myself to go to the gym and I felt self-conscious – now I love it.”
