Marnie: “I want a normal life”

After four intense years in the spotlight, reality star Marnie Simpson admits she can’t wait for the fame bubble to burst

Along with her Geordie Shore A co-stars, Marnie Simpson has grabbed headlines for her outrageous drunken antics, countless cosmetic procedures and controversial outfits.

Her life was turned upside down when she found fame in 2013 on the notoriously wild reality TV show. But despite her success, Marnie tells Closer she can’t wait to fade from the spotlight – and admits she only starred in the show because she couldn’t get a job.

“Geordie Shore was the only thing I could do,” confesses the 25-yearold star. “I was unemployed for six months before I joined the show. I’m looking forward to my fame ending

when the bubble bursts. I’ve spent my 20s in the public eye and I’m excited for when it ends so I can have a more normal, happy life – a normal house with a normal guy, two kids, two cars and two dogs.”

HIGH-PROFILE ROMANCES

The feisty reality star has endured her fair share of public spats with the likes of MIC’S Lucy Watson and Loose Women’s Saira Khan. But Marnie says her biggest nemesis is former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison, who she clashed with from the start. She says: “Vicky didn’t like me from the minute she met me, but I don’t know why. I’m still very confused about it all to be honest.”

As well as clashes in the public eye, Marnie has also had a series of high-profile relationships, including her on-off romance with co-star Aaron Chalmers. She was also linked to 1D star Niall Horan and was briefly engaged to former TOWIE star Ricky Rayment in 2015. Most recently, Marnie – who came out as bisexual in 2016 – has had a tumultuous relationship with TOWIE’S Lewis Bloor, who she met on Celebrity Big Brother last year. But the pair split in March when Lewis admitted to cheating on her.

Now Marnie says she’s determined to enjoy the single life and adds that her next relationship will be out of the spotlight.

She says: “The best thing for me is to be single. I need a break from relationships and I need to learn to love myself. The next person I go for will not be famous.”

DEALING WITH HER DEMONS

In her new autobiography, Stripped Bare, Marnie bravely reveals she had an abortion at the age of 19 after falling pregnant with Big Brother star Anthony Hutton. She also opens up about suffering emotionally from not having her dad around as she grew up. Admitting that she tends to “blot things out,” Marnie says she’s turning to therapy to deal with her demons. She reveals: “Talking openly has made me want to try therapy. I think that not having my dad around much when I was younger has made me who I am.”

Marnie is also beginning to come to terms with her body dysmorphia, which she says developed as a result of being in the limelight. And while she’s previously said it takes all her willpower to stop having surgery, Marnie – who’s had two boob jobs, a nose job, lip fillers and lipo – admits she’s beginning to realise there is more to life than looks. And last week, she revealed she’d been left with two “bore holes” after lipo.

She reveals: “I still suffer with body dysmorphia, but I’ve come to realise that I’m really lucky to be in the position I’m in. There’s more to life than just looking good.”
