Now’s the time to brush up on easy, relaxed hair trends that will see you through a long weekend. GHD stylist Patrick Wilson shows us three styles you can create anywhere – with zero effort

COACHELLA WAVE

DAY 1 l Create a deep sideparting using a tail comb and backcomb the larger section at the roots to create volume. l Take medium sections of the hair. Clamp straighteners at the ends and twist upwards at 360 degrees. Gently pull to release a wave. l Allow the hair to cool, then brush through with a wide-tooth comb and secure the smaller section behind the ear. l Finish with pretty hair slides and a shine spray for the ultimate retro glamour look. MOLLIE SAYS: “I loved these luxe waves – it was the perfect mix of glam and festival fun.”

EMBELLISHED ROPE BRAID

l To add a playful and stylish update to Day 1 hair, spritz some dry shampoo at the roots to keep any grease at bay and to add texture. l Take a small section of hair from the front of one side and braid in a simple three-way plait, before securing with an elastic band and pinning into place behind the ear. l Gently tug at the crown to loosen hair for an effortless finish. Add hair rings throughout the braid before spritzing with hairspray. MOLLIE SAYS: “I really liked the contrast of the sweet braid with the metallic rings to rock it up a bit.”

TEXTURED LOW PONY

l For this low-maintenance updo, dust some volumising powder at the roots to create height. l Then gather the hair at the nape of the neck and secure with an elastic band. To soften the look, gently pull pieces of hair forward to frame the face. l You can accessorise with a ribbon or glitzy hair band for a girlie take on the pony. Or wrap a small section of your hair around the elastic band and secure with a pin for a minimalistic look. MOLLIE SAYS: “I’ve never worn my hair like this and was concerned it may look too girlie, but I felt very sophisticated and chic.”
