They became parents T for the first time last week to twins Ella and Alexander – two of the most eagerly anticipated arrivals in the showbiz world. And as George and Amal Clooney settle into family life at their Berkshire mansion, friends say they’re overcome with happiness and plan to spend the next few weeks holed-up as they vow to be hands-on parents.

A source says: “George and Amal are smitten with the twins – they feel their world is now complete. They’ve hired a live-in baby nurse and nanny, but they both want to be as involved as possible. Amal’s younger sister, Tala, has flown in to help out for the first couple of weeks and both George and Amal’s parents will also be around as an extra support.”

Speaking of the newborns last week, George’s father, Nick, said: “They’re absolutely beautiful… George will be a wonderful father, Amal will be – and already is – a magnificent mother. I’m constantly amazed by her. She is an incredible woman. George certainly married up!”

Nick, 83, also revealed that George will be “hands-on” with nappy duty, revealing he will “do it with humour and with joy.”

Human rights lawyer Amal, 39, who married Hollywood actor George, 56, in Venice in 2014, reportedly gave birth in a suite costing £8,000 a night at London’s Chelsea and Westminster birthing hospital – the same place Cheryl is believed to have delivered Bear.

And the couple’s celebrity pals have already been lavishing their newborns with gifts. A source says: “Cindy Crawford sent gold identity bracelets, while Julia Roberts sent the entire Tiffany silverwear baby collection and Brad Pitt planted trees in their names. George and Amal have been overwhelmed by people’s generosity and he’s even joked that if this is the reception they get when they become parents, he can’t wait to give it another go!”
