Vicky: “I don’t want to be a size 6 bride!”
Vicky Pattison reveals all about her rumoured boob job, loving her curves and the Big Fat Gypsy Wedding she’s planning…
She’s been relentlessly S bullied about her weight in the past – but Vicky Pattison tells Closer she feels more confident than ever after finally accepting her natural size 10 figure.
Vicky, 29, slimmed down from a size 16 to an 8 in 2013, but was targeted by cruel trolls who were nasty about her body – something she’s previously admitted left her in tears. Earlier this year, she shared an Instagram video of herself in a bikini to deny claims that she heavily edited her pictures.
Then, two weeks ago, reports claimed the former Geordie Shore star had undergone a second boob job (her first was in 2014 when she revealed her weight loss had left her with a “saggy” cleavage). Fans inundated the comments section under her busty Instagram photos, writing “I think you’ve got some more filling in those boobs?” and: “You had your boobs done again?”
But Vicky was quick to shoot down these rumours, telling Closer: “I’ve absolutely not had another boob job. The reports were comparing me now to pictures when I was a size 6-8 – and much smaller – so of course my boobs look bigger now! But no, I haven’t had anything done.”
But while the star explains that she’s now learned to ignore the trolls, she admits it’s been hard to finally embrace her curves.
She says: “It’s been the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do. It’s not something that just happened organically as I grew up, which I think I assumed it would. I have to convince myself every single day. Every morning, I wake up and I try to look in the mirror and find something I like, rather than pick a fault.
BODY CONFIDENCE
“[Words like ‘curvy’] probably would have had negative connotations for me in the past, when I was chasing some sort of unachievable Victoria’s Secret dream, but now I’m like: ‘I’m 30 this year – I’ve got a gorgeous boyfriend, a successful TV career, an amazing collection of [fiction] books behind me – all the amazing things I’ve done. I’m not a size 6 and that’s fine.’”
Another reason for Vicky’s new-found body confidence is her relationship with boyfriend John Noble – who she’s been seeing since last October. She previously dated the businessman when she was 21, and confesses that second time around she’s “aggressively in love” and has met the man she wants to marry.
She explains: “I just can’t imagine why I was ever with anyone else. He’s always been the right man – it was just the wrong time. Now it’s the right time. He ticks every box. I know I’m going to marry him, but I’m not in any hurry. We’re in a cute place. Every stage when you’re in love is exciting and perfect – and I love this one so much. But I do want it to happen with him.”
SETTLING DOWN
The TV star even jokes she’s already planning a “big fat gypsy”-themed wedding, including a jaw-dropping dress. She laughs: “John’s got a traveller heritage, so I’m going the full nine yards. I want butterflies and LEDS on my dress. I’ve already been in touch with Thelma Madine [the dressmaker from Big Fat Gypsy Weddings]. She’s buzzing!” And Vicky says that being with John has changed her priorities when it comes to food – and that’s helped her to stabilise her weight.
‘I know I’m going to marry John, but I’m in no hurry’
She says: “I really enjoy meals out with John – which is important in every relationship, so I’ve had to relax myself slightly in that respect, and it has led to a more relaxed approach to my body. But I feel like that’s healthy. Everyone knows when you get in a relationship you do have to relax your eating habits slightly. If I’m in the house on my own and there’s nothing in, I have a protein shake, but if John’s there, he’s like: ‘Put on your clothes, we’ll go out to eat at Zizzi’s.’ It becomes a thing. You schedule your life around eating when you’re in a relationship.”
A healthy Attitude
She adds: “I look lovely in clothes, I appear all right in a bikini and I’m really happy. But it’s not something that happens naturally and I do have to remind myself every now and then. I love my life and I’m not prepared to sacrifice that for being 7lbs lighter. I don’t want to be a size 6 bride. Life’s too short.” Vicky’s book My Sister’s Wedding is out 15 June (£7.99, Sphere)
