Porn addict mum: “I quit my job to watch 60 hours of sex videos a week”

Mum-of-three Michaela Snell is a porn addict and admits she suffers withdrawal symptoms if she has to go without her fix

Whenever 41-yearold Michaela W Snell has a spare moment, she loves to spend time indulging her “hobby.”

Shockingly, Michaela watches up to 11 hours of porn a day – from erotic teasers to full-length feature films – and admits she had to quit her job because it got in the way of her lust for blue movies. She even confesses to suffering withdrawal symptoms when she has to go without it.

Michaela, who lives in Grantham, Lincolnshire, says: “I’m addicted to porn, but it’s not harmful like drugs and alcohol so I’m not worried about it.

“There are downsides – I’m often exhausted because of always staying up late but it’s definitely worth it because it brings me so much joy.”

Michaela first started watching porn when she was 15 and still at school, after finding a stash of videos.

She says: “The videos showed pretty run-of-the-mill sex, but they were quite graphic – which I found hilarious. I was a teenager and understood what was going on so it wasn’t particularly shocking to me.

EXPERIMENTING

“I watched them when I was home alone – making sure to always wind the videos back to the start, so nobody would ever find out what I’d been doing. Luckily, I never got caught.”

Michaela began dating an older man when she was 16.

She says: “I met Tim in a pub. He was 28, so more experienced than me. We tried all kinds of adventurous things in the bedroom – our sex life was amazing. I always watched porn before sex because it helped get me in the mood.

“Tim was equally into it and would borrow tapes from a friend – I loved watching bondage and sensual erotica.”

Michaela fell pregnant a few months later, aged 17, but their relationship broke down and she spent the next two years as a single mum to eldest son Daniel, now 23.

She says: “Without a steady boyfriend, I started experimenting with sex toys while watching porn. I’d do it any spare moment I had – when Daniel was napping or at nursery. I never felt guilty, because it helped me relax.

“Most men I met thought it was great that I loved porn, but a few said it put them off because they didn’t enjoy it or would get jealous. I’d just watch it alone if they weren’t into it.

“I’ve never minded if my boyfriends don’t quite measure up to the porn stars in the movies – I just watch them for the thrill.”

Michaela, who went on to have another son, Jack, 17, and daughter Bailey, four, from subsequent relationships, says both of her sons are fully aware of her addiction.

THE PERFECT JOB

She says: “They sometimes walk in while I’m watching porn, but I just tell them to get out. They just say: ‘Oh mum,’ and roll their eyes. I don’t mind that they know about my addiction – I don’t want them to be prudes. They should be able to talk to me about anything.

“My friends also know that I enjoy watching porn and assume that I go swinging – but that isn’t for me. But I could never tell my parents.”

Michaela now works as the manager of an adult store, which helps her indulge her addiction at work.

She reveals: “I had to give up my job at a clothes shop because it meant I didn’t have enough time to watch porn. Now I’ve got the perfect career and I can easily watch porn for up to 11 hours a day. I don’t masturbate at work, but it does get me in the mood for when I get home.

“And because the shop has over 5,000 DVDS in stock, there’s always a lot of variety – although I don’t watch gay or transsexual porn.

“When the children are with their dads I have marathon sessions. The only negative side is that when I have to go without it for a few days – for example on a family holiday – I suffer from withdrawal symptoms. I get twitchy and shaky.”

Michaela even admits that her addiction has affected her social life, saying: “Although I still have a good circle of friends, there have been a number times where I’ve stayed in and watched porn rather than going out for drinks.”

SETTING CHALLENGES

She’s now dating a fellow porn addict, Christopher, 43, who she met while on a day out with friends.

She says: “Christopher was surprised when I said that I like porn. He’s a little bit less experienced than me, but also a porn addict – it’s almost competitive between us as to who can watch the most.

“He gets embarrassed when Isee what he’s been watching on his internet search history. But it doesn’t bother me at all – I’m just glad he’s doing his homework!

“Our mutual interest in porn has definitely improved our sex life – we’re always seeing new things to try out and even made a new year’s resolution to see how much sex we could have this year.”

And Michaela would encourage all women to start watching porn.

ENHANCING SEX

She says: “There’s still a stigma attached to women enjoying porn, but after 50 Shades Of Grey things seem to be changing. Porn has never ruined my sex life – only enhanced it.

“Women can learn a lot from porn to keep their men interested in the bedroom. It helps to stop them from cheating – if you don’t keep things fresh, then they’ll look for something more exciting from someone else.

“I just can’t imagine my life without porn!”
