Mariah splashes out £1M on ‘flattering Mirrors’

She was the subject of a wave of criticism last week amid accusations of Photoshopping after posing in a racy showgirl outfit on the front cover of a magazine, but looking significantly curvier on stage in the same week.

Critics took to Twitter to blast Mariah Carey, saying the singer was “deceiving fans” and should “decide whether to shape-up or embrace your body.”

Now sources close to Mariah, 47, say she’s going to great lengths in her desperation to appear younger and thinner, and has bizarrely splashed out £1m on special lighting and flattering mirrors in her home.

A source says: “Mariah’s not ready to accept that her curves are quite so full and refused to be seen on the cover of a magazine unless they recreated a more slender figure along the lines of how she looked in the 1990s. She’s always surrounded by people who tell her how incredible she looks, and has installed expensive lighting and slanted mirrors throughout her home to make her look slimmer. She’s said it’s easier to renovate your home than your body!”

The move comes after a difficult year for Mariah, who has six-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-husband Nick Cannon. She split from billionaire fiancé James Packer last September, and is currently dating choreographer Bryan Tanaka, 34, despite the pair splitting for over a month in April.

The source says: “Mariah’s put on almost a stone since splitting with James through stress and overeating, and then her relationship problems with Bryan. He’s said he loves her regardless, but she’s insecure and refuses to let him see her naked, wearing her sexy stage outfits when they’re together, keeping the lights off, and making him move into the guest bedroom while she gets ready in the morning.”
