‘TAMED’ RUSSELL TIES THE KNOT!
His bitter divorce from pop star Katy Perry five years ago was a distant memory as Russell Brand married his long-term girlfriend Laura Gallacher in an intimate church service near their home in Henley-on-thames last week. The controversial 42-year-old comedian hired a New Orleansstyle paddle steamer to ferry their guests – including A-list pals Noel Gallagher, Jonathan Ross and David Baddiel – to an Indian-themed reception a year after he popped the question to 30-year-old lifestyle blogger Laura – the younger sister of Sky Sports presenter Kirsty. A wedding insider said: “They wanted a very small wedding with their ninemonth-old daughter Mabel, family and close friends rather than a media circus. It was a lovely day. Mabel was the guest of honour.”
Russell’s second wedding is in stark contrast to his 2010 nuptials to Katy. That weeklong celebration took place in Rambagh Palace, India, and was conducted by a Hindu priest.
The reformed Lothario – who was named “Shagger Of The Year” three times in a row by a newspaper and went to rehab for sex addiction – has dated a string of high-profile women, including Jemima Khan, Geri Horner, Kate Moss and Imogen Thomas.
But pals say the womaniser has finally changed his ways since settling down with Laura in 2015 – after reportedly dating her on and off since 2007.
A source says: “Everything changed for Russell when he reconnected with Laura. He
said she gives him the stability and energy he’s been searching for his whole life.
“He credits Laura with taming him and changing his outlook on life, but also giving him the most special gift in the world of becoming a dad – something he thought might never happen.”
Laura and Russell welcomed their daughter in November last year, and plan on raising their child “gender neutral.”
Opening up earlier this year about becoming a dad, the comedian said: “It’s the most wonderful thing. The best thing about being a dad is to have something outside of yourself that’s more important than you, other than West Ham United.”
A source adds: “Russell knows he’s made mistakes in the past, but having a daughter has transformed him. He’s completely besotted with Mabel – he’s looking forward to expanding his family in the near future!”
