Celeb guest ‘I’m all for feminism, but chivalry needs to live on’
EVERY WEEK WE BRING YOU A BRILLIANT GUEST COLUMNIST
Last week I read a survey by Match.com, which found that 73 per cent of modern women wish men were more gentlemanly and that they’d do things like make sure we get home safely or not cancel date plans last minute. I completely agree, I’m all for feminism and independence in women, but chivalry needs to live on. I feel like nowadays men think that because it’s the 21st century, they have a free pass to be a little lazier when making the first move. Credit where credit’s due, Alex was a gentleman when we were on the show and that was a great attribute to have. I think it’s really attractive when a guy is a bit old-fashioned and comes up to you and asks for your number. Men think they can hide behind social media rather than taking the lead. If someone cancels on me last minute, I won’t speak to them again. And if they think, “Oh no, I’ve got to spend money on a date,” you know what? Yes, you do. You need to fork out to impress the date. You make the plan for the date and I’ll turn up. If you’re unreliable or disorganised, it’s a no. So guys, please step up!
