tuff you’ve stashed away S could be worth tens, hundreds or even thousands of pounds! So have a clearout, then do your research. For a quick sale, and to declutter in bulk, box up your stuff and post it to Vintage Cash Cow (details are on www. vintagecashcow.co.uk) – who will send you an offer if they’re interested in buying.

Vintage expert Kate Beavis recommends selling to a specialist to get the best price for your item. She says: “Do a local search on Google to find experts who can recommend a collector or dealer. Or if you sell on ebay or Gumtree, research the value of your item first.” Here’s what’s attracting attention right now…

VINTAGE DOLLS

Sindy dolls from the ’60s can go for over £500 on ebay. “The clothes are worth more sold separately,” says Kate. “An apron recently sold for £32 and shoes can sell for £6.” If you have an early Sindy doll, Kate recommends ebay or selling to collectors. “Google Sindy collectors and contact them for the best chance of a good price.”

OLD COINS

It’s no surprise that sixpences or coins from Queen Victoria’s Jubilee are valuable – but novelty ones can make a mint, too. Recently released 50p coins starring Beatrix Potter characters sell for as much as £400 on ebay. Check the value on coin site www.changechecker.org.

RETRO TECHNOLOGY

“Old games and consoles can be worth a lot, especially if they’re boxed,” says Kate. “Retro items like the Sinclair ZX Spectrum or Atari 400 could make you hundreds. Check the value on Retrogamingcollector.com.”

STICKER BOOKS

Full Panini football sticker books in good condition can be worth selling: a completed Italia 90-sticker book could be worth £500. If you haven’t completed the whole book, try to sell stickers separately on ebay. “Stickers can go for £2.50 each, so 10 will make you £25,” says Kate.

VINYL

You can sell popular records in bulk on Facebook or at car boot sales, but rarer albums are the real moneymakers. “Records that were made and withdrawn such as Sex Pistols God Save The Queen or low-numbered Beatles records could be worth thousands” says Kate. “Value yours at Rarerecordpriceguide.com and sell on ebay or on sites such as Sellvinylrecords.co.uk.”

MAGAZINES

Old copies of Vogue can fetch over £80, but you don’t need to go too far back – the Kate Middleton cover from last year is being sold for £250 on ebay. Check out Crazyaboutmagazines.com and you’ll see that even special supplements from the noughties can be worth over £10. So check before recycling!
