ALEXANDRA FACES ‘HOMEWRECKER’ BACKLASH
She may be impressing the Strictly judges, but Alexandra Burke faced criticism last week after claims of affairs with married men resurfaced.
During her time on The X Factor in 2008, Tracie Brooks alleged that Alexandra had split up her marriage with her husband Russell Brooks.
Alexandra said the romance had begun after the marriage ended, but Tracie disagreed, saying, “Alex comes across as a sweet girl, but she must have known he was married. There’s nothing sweet about that.”
Alexandra was also branded a “ruthless homewrecker” by Maggie West, who claimed her husband D’andre West had walked out on her and their twoyear-old daughter to be with Alexandra, who was then 16.
The backlash comes at a traumatic time for Alexandra. The singer – who has been with boyfriend Josh Ginnelly since April 2016 – lost her mum, singer Melissa Bell, in August, after a long battle with kidney failure.
A source says, “Alexandra’s struggling with the stress. It’s been so heartbreaking reading these old stories again. A lot of her emotions stem from her grief over her mum.
“She also admits she got worked up over her dance partner Gorka and show rival Gemma Atkinson’s closeness, but it’s because she’s putting everything into Strictly relaunching her TV career. Josh has been her rock through it all.”
