CORRIE’S JACK SPLITS FROM CHILDHOOD SWEETHEART
His 15-year relationship with his fiancée and childhood sweetheart was rocked six years ago when he was unfaithful and fathered a love child following a one night-stand. And, last week, insiders revealed that Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd – who plays David Platt in the soap – had split from Lauren Shippey. The couple – parents to Nyla, eight, and four-year-old Reuben – are reportedly still living under the same roof despite their recent break-up.
Jack and Lauren, both 29, first started dating aged 14 and moved in together two years later. They briefly split in 2011, when a DNA test proved that Jack had fathered a baby boy called Greyson – who’s now six but has no contact with the actor – after a one night-stand with sales executive Sammy Milewski.
Following the revelations, Jack issued a grovelling public apology, saying, “I would like to apologise to my family for all the hurt and pain I have caused them, to ITV Granada for letting them down, and especially to Lauren and Nyla, who are the most important people in my life. I now need to concentrate on what is really important; my family and my career, as I have abused my position as an employee, partner and father, and for that I am deeply sorry.”
A heartbroken Lauren threw Jack out of their home, but he won her back soon after when he proposed with a £3,000 engagement ring.
A spokesperson insisted the pair “remain best friends” after the split.
