KATE: ‘I can’t wait to have children with Rio’
When Rio Ferdinand shared a photo of girlfriend Kate Wright walking hand-in-hand with his three children while on holiday in Portugal last week, it finally confirmed their relationship was serious. Especially as the post came just weeks after the former TOWIE star announced she was quitting showbiz to focus on their relationship.
Pals say Kate, 26, is happier than ever playing step-mum to Lorenz, 11, Tate, nine, and Tia, six – with her and ex-footballer Rio, 38, even talking about having children together.
The former Man United and England defender said his
“world collapsed” when his 34-year-old wife Rebecca died after a short battle with breast cancer in May 2015. He also recently opened up about the positive effect Kate has had on his life in his new book Thinking Out Loud.
A source says, “Kate has been amazing for Rio and the kids, and while it’s been a tough road of adjustment, they’re happier than they’ve been in a long time. Rio’s spoken to the kids about the possibility of Kate moving in and they’re all very supportive.
“Kate wants children of her own one day and that’s something she and Rio have spoken about, but the children will be asked for their thoughts on that decision first.”
Kate, who rose to fame on the ITV Be show with her on/ off relationship with Dan Edgar, started dating Rio last December after meeting him in Dubai.
The source says, “Kate’s been incredibly patient with Rio and she took his lead when it came to the children. She’s built a very strong bond with them.”
