The last time I… Carol Vorderman
TV presenter Carol Vorderman, 56, talks us through the key moments in her life…
MADE A BIG LIFE CHANGE
“Change” is my favourite word. I hate the thought of doing the same thing forever, so I’m always pushing and challenging myself. From January, I’m going to be spending most of my time in San Diego, America, which will be a huge adjustment. I love flying and I’ve got a pilot’s licence, so I’ll be taking my plane there as San Diego is a beautiful place and great for flying, plus I have a lot of friends there already. It’s totally different from home and I can’t wait.
WORKED UP A SWEAT
Every day! I love being outside and try to exercise every day. I wish I was more like Davina Mccall and super-fit, but I have a lot of other hobbies that take up my time. I like to keep a constant level of fitness and then, occasionally, I push myself for a month, where I’ll spend about three hours a day working out. I’ll go to the gym, see a personal trainer, do circuits and I love being out on my bike.
FELT LIKE A MILLION DOLLARS
I feel happy a lot of the time actually, as I try to surround myself with lovely people and have an amazing life. Last month, I went to a horse racing event in America with a good friend of mine; we stayed the whole weekend and I just laughed non-stop. I felt amazing then.
LOST MY TEMPER
I never lose my temper. Having a big confrontation with someone I love would upset me for weeks afterwards. I was happily married to Paddy [Patrick King] for 12 years and always joked that we never argued. He used to say I was allowed one argument or heated debate each year, and if I didn’t use it I could roll it over to the next year. That’s how little we argued.
