‘Anything that makes you feel uncomfortable is unacceptable’
CLOSER’S PSYCHOLOGIST EMMA KENNY SAYS, “Men often expect women to take sexual comments or behaviour as a compliment or a joke and, as a result, women can feel afraid to speak out for fear of ridicule or being told they’re too sensitive.
“Of course, if the harasser is in a position of power, women will be worried about the repercussions of speaking out. But any behaviour that makes you feel uncomfortable is not acceptable. If you’re worried by any colleague’s behaviour, talk to your HR department and check your company’s policy on sexual harassment.”
