SIR BRUCE FORSYTH In August we sadly lost 89-year-old national treasure Brucie. He hosted some of the most popular TV shows from the ’50s right through to Strictly, where he was still chanting his beloved catchphrase, “Nice to see you – to see you nice!”

TARA PALMERTOMKINSON The much-loved socialite died in February aged 45 after suffering from a perforated ulcer and peritonitis. The former Closer columnist had been clean of a cocaine addiction for several years, after it caused her nasal septum to collapse in 2005. HUGH HEFNER In September, the man who created Playboy and its huge empire passed away, aged 91. Hugh was controversial, but he undoubtedly made a huge impact on pop culture and the sexual revolution. He died of natural causes surrounded by his loved ones.

KEITH CHEGWIN The TV presenter and actor was known for presenting Cheggers Plays Pop and Saturday Superstore. Cheggers was loved for his off-thecuff style of presenting and larger-than-life character. He died on 11 December after a battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. DAVID CASSIDY The actor, singer and ’70s heartthrob rose to fame on TV show The Partridge Family and later went on to release five albums. But stardom took its toll and he battled addiction to drink and drugs, as well as suffering from dementia. He died from liver and kidney failure in November.

SIR ROGER MOORE James Bond star Sir Roger Moore died aged 89 in May after a brief battle with liver and lung cancer. A touching statement from his children, Deborah, Christian and Geoffrey, who he had with wife Luisa, read, “Thank you Pops for being you, and being so very special to so many people.”
