Kim spends millions welcoming her newborn daughter
Between plush hospital suites, a personal chef and a designer wardrobe, no expense has been spared for the latest Kardashian
Their longed-for T third child was delivered via a surrogate last week, with an excited Kim Kardashian – who was reportedly present for her birth – announcing “She’s here!” on social media. And now insiders say the reality star has splashed out an eyewatering £3m on her daughter’s first week.
The newborn made her arrival at top private hospital Cedars Sinai, in a deluxe £15,000-a-night birthing suite overlooking the Hollywood Hills. The suite was equipped with a private midwife to attend to the mother and baby’s every need, as well as a personal chef and added extras, such as spa treatments and even a harpist for their three-night stay.
Kim’s rapper husband, Kanye West, 40, spent an extra £50,000 on round-the-clock security outside the labour room, as well as blocking out the surrounding six suites – which set him back a reported £270,000.
EXTRA LENGTHS
A source reveals, “Kim and Kanye wanted the birth to be as comfortable as possible for their surrogate, so they went to extra lengths to make sure everything was perfect. This included shipping in special bed sheets woven with gold and silk Jacquard at £2,400 a set, as well as forking out £10,000 on two doulas – birthing assistants – to offer extra support to their surrogate. Kim and Kanye also brought in their own private chef to the hospital’s kitchen, which cost £5,000, and hired celebrity photographer James Hickey to take the baby’s first pictures, which set them back an additional £6,000.
The source reveals, “Kim also forked out £40,000 to have her personal doctor, Paul Crane, deliver the baby – who was yet to be named as Closer went to press. The star called in top masseuses and hair stylists to pamper the surrogate afterwards – even offering her the option of ‘bedside Botox’ from a top plastic surgeon, at £3,000 a shot. The source adds, “As soon as the baby was born, Kim dressed her in a £1,700 Dolce & Gabbana onesie and had an entire suitcase of baby clothes – which she admitted amounted to £60,000 alone – on top of the £100,000 wardrobe she already has waiting for her at home.”
CLOSER TOGETHER
Kanye – who’s dad to their two other children, North, four, and two-year-old Saint – was pictured beaming shortly after the birth announcement. And pals say the new baby is already bringing the couple closer together after a turbulent time, following Kim’s traumatic gunpoint ordeal in Paris in October 2016 and Kanye’s subsequent breakdown.
The source says, “Kanye was also there for the birth and burst into tears when their daughter was born, hugging and kissing Kim in elation, which was very uncharacteristic as Kanye isn’t usually one to show his feelings. He’s already been in touch with his designer pals to have couture clothes made for the newborn and has splashed out £2m on an 18-carat gold-plated Dodo Bassinet crib, as well as devoting his next song to his ‘new little Princess’. He and Kim have been on a high since the birth and it’s brought back that connection between them. They’re more loved-up than ever.”

in the new Kardashian additions has reached fever pitch. And sources close to Kim say she intends to hold back on putting her third child into the spotlight, having already reportedly turned down a £3m offer for the first snaps of her newborn.
Last week, Kim wrote a post on her website about the experience of using a surrogate. The star famously suffered with high-risk placenta accreta when pregnant with her first two children, and doctors had warned her it wasn’t safe for her to carry another child.
Kim wrote that she and Kanye decided on gestational surrogacy, where the gestational carrier has no biological relationship to the baby and carries another couple’s fertilised egg to term.
Kim dubbed the process “the best experience”, saying, “We have a great relationship with her [their carrier] and trusted her completely throughout the process.” She also added that it was hard for her not to carry her own child, and is considering doing a TV series on surrogacy to help other mums.
A source adds, “Kim found it tough not being able to carry her child, but now she’s here, Kim’s on a high and is keen to have another. She’s been telling pals this is just the start of expanding the Kardashian-west brood.”
