‘I won’t be going to the loo alone’

Christine Lampard, 39, leads a group of celebs braving it out in a creepy house for a fun-filled live spookfest

- By Hannah Wright

Are you easily spooked?

Put it this way – I won’t be going to the loo by myself! I’m not at all brave when it comes to this sort of thing. We’re keeping the location of the house under wraps until the first show goes out – and I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting it yet myself – but there’s meant to be something particularly eerie about it…

The identity of the celebs taking part is still a secret, but we have heard Jordan – aka Katie Price – has volunteered herself…

Katie Price is going to be fantastic value, and apparently she is an absolute believer. She thinks her current house is haunted, and has all sorts of people trying to rid it of spirits. When our last series went out, she Tweeted to say she has to come on the show, so she offered herself to us!

And you have Jack Osbourne as the resident paranormal expert?

I watched some of Jack’s programmes [paranormal investigation series Haunted Highway] when I was living in New York with Frank [Lampard – Christine’s husband]. Jack is now a bit of a heavyweight in the supernatural world, and he’s there to give Celebrity Haunted Mansion a bit of gravitas; it’s a big coup for us to have him.

Have you ever had a ghostly encounter?

When we were in New York, on two different occasions I had people stop me to say that I have an aura around me and that I do have a gift, which I should explore more. There was also a time when I was 12 and I was having a terrible time at school. A medium approached my mum and I in the street and said, “I’ve got your Granny Catherine here, she tells me you’re not happy at school but that you must stay because it’s all going to work out.” That will stick with me forever.

Yikes! How do you plan to unwind after filming?

It can take me a little bit of time to unwind after filming this show. I tend to watch comedy – I love anything with Steve Coogan in it. I don’t watch scary movies because I become too embroiled in them.

Is Frank keen to get along to the haunted mansion to support you when the show kicks off?

Yeah, he’ll be supporting me – by watching it on the sofa! [Christine chuckles]. No, he wouldn’t be great in there. As much as he likes to act all terribly brave and strong, it wouldn’t be his cup of tea at all.

But you were perfectly happy to do a second series?

I’m not happy to do anything on my own! I’ve said to everybody, I’m not walking off into the woods on my own, and I’m not hanging around in dark rooms. Last time, Sally Lindsay and Emma Kennedy were in a room supposedly full of ghost children. Emma felt what she believes was a small hand squeeze her knee. That was her done; she didn’t want to go back into the place!
