Kimberley: “Wherever Cheryl lives, I’ll always see her”
Following reports that Cheryl is heading for yet another relationship breakdown, her BFF Kimberley Walsh tells Closer that she’ll always be there for her
They first met on TV T talent show Popstars: The Rivals over a decade ago, before joining girl band Girls Aloud – and Cheryl and Kimberley Walsh have been best friends ever since.
Kimberley, 36, has helped Cheryl, 33, through thick and thin, and was her rock through her marriage breakdowns to both Ashley Cole and Jean-bernard Fernandez-versini.
Last week, Cheryl was plagued with reports of an imminent split between her and partner Liam Payne, 24, despite their appearance at the BRITS together.
Sources have told Closer that although Cheryl wants things to work out with Liam, she has been looking at homes near Kimberley in Hertfordshire, including to prepare for the possibility that she may not be able to save her relationship.
When we mention the possibility of Cheryl moving closer to her, Kimberley’s response is emphatic.
She says, “Obviously I’d love her to live close to me. We see so much of each other as it is. Wherever she lives, we’ll always see each other and spend a lot of time together.”
GROWING UP TOGETHER
While they first rose to fame in their early 20s in Girls Aloud in 2002, 16 years later Kimberley and Cheryl are both mothers: Kimberley to sons Bobby, three, and Cole, one, with her husband Justin Scott and Cheryl to 11-month-old Bear with Liam.
And Kimberley says that she’s loving being a mum alongside Cheryl – and that she can’t wait for the boys to grow up together.
“Cheryl comes to me for advice – all mums ask each other for advice and share stories about their babies. The boys get on so well – they saw each other last week and they see each other a lot in general.
“Little Bear is just kind of in awe of Bobby – he’s very loud and boisterous and Bear just stares at him and watches him, transfixed. He’s probably thinking, ‘Who is this guy?’. Cole and Bobby connect too, and it’s sweet. But they’re still so young – they’ll connect more the older they get, I guess. It’ll be lovely when they’re older.”
SPECIAL DAY
And as March approaches, Kimberley says that she’s excited for her best friend to celebrate Mother’s Day as a mum herself.
She says, “She’ll be looking forward to it. I hope she’s spoilt – she’s an amazing mum.”
