Danielle: “Bullies forced me to change my face”
Danielle Lloyd hits back at cruel online taunts over her appearance as she prepares to marry her fiancé Michael O’neill – and dismisses comparisons to friend Jordan
he made S her name as a glamorous beauty queen, but insiders say Danielle Lloyd was left in tears last week after taunts from online trolls “forced” her to have facial fillers – which she then had a bad reaction to. Pictures emerged of Danielle, 34, with visible bruising and a puffy face while out with her fiancé Michael O’neill and their newborn baby Ronnie. Her spokesperson was quick to respond over speculation that Danielle had undergone surgery. She said, “Danielle has made no secret of the fact that she’s been the target of extreme online trolling and bullying. As a result of which, she has been left feeling very self-conscious about her looks.
ALL TOO MUCH
“She’s always said she would never have fillers, but consequently has given in to the bullying and has had injectable fillers as the criticism about her face just got too much. Then she’d had an allergic reaction to them.”
Now pals say Danielle, who has admitted to having a boob job, Botox and lip filler in the past, is sick of being trolled over her appearance.
A source says, “Danielle’s been in tears from the stream of negative comments she gets about her looks. She would never, ever have thought that such horrible insults would propel her into doing something so drastic. In a way, she’s frustrated that these faceless, online critics had that power over her and made her change her face, but they have.
“She’s been a model for almost 15 years and her looks are part of her identity, so the fact she’s felt the need to take such drastic measures just shows how bad things have got now. It’s just not fair.”
And even after undergoing fillers, Danielle still continued to receive vicious comments about her face – including many comparisons to her surgery-loving friend Jordan (real name Katie Price).
One troll said, “What the hell has she done to her face… her teeth, lips, eyebrows, cheeks… she looks absolutely dreadful… what does she hope to achieve ? She looks like her face is melting.”
MORPHING INTO JORDAN
While another added, “She has morphed into Jordan. It’s unreal!”
Just last month, Jordan, who has reportedly spent a whopping £100k on plastic surgery, stepped out looking considerably different after undergoing a facelift last year and having fillers and Botox for years.
But insiders say Danielle – who became friends with Jordan nearly a decade ago – has vowed not to go down the same surgery route.
An insider says, “Some people have asked whether her friendship with Katie has influenced her decision, but it’s been a long time since the two of them have been in touch.
“Danielle certainly doesn’t look at other stars in the media and compare herself to them. She doesn’t want to have to rely on cosmetic surgery in the future – she just wanted a quick fix to up her confidence at the moment.”
And insiders say Danielle, who is also mum to Archie, seven, Harry, six, and George, three, from her first marriage to footballer Jamie O’hara, is determined to look her best when she marries Michael, 30 – which could be in the next “couple of weeks”.
THE BIG DAY
A source says, “Danielle’s keeping her cards very close to her chest, but all her inner circle think the wedding is imminent. She knows Michael loves her, but looking as good for him as possible is something that’s important to her. She wants to walk down the aisle feeling fantastic and she’s told pals there’s no way she’ll be letting the trolls ruin her Big Day.”
