Apparently, Millennials (people who were born between the early ’80s and mid ’90s) are set to be the most obese generation in British history according to a new study. This is madness! If you think about what our country has been through, how is it that we are now most unhealthy? We have an abundance of good, nutritious food available, which we haven’t always had, as well as a wealth of information on healthy eating and cooking.

In World War II, people lived on rations – but kids were healthier then. Now, there’s so much junk food available and the likes of Deliveroo and cheap takeaways are the problem. People can order pizzas, burgers and curries to arrive at their door at any time of the day and night. The variety and availability of food is both a blessing and a curse.

The best way to solve this potential health crisis is for people to stop ordering so many takeaways. And we all need to start being more aware of how much we should be eating, and how active we should be. Parents should bring up their kids with a sensible approach to food. My youngest stepdaughter – Claudia, who’s 21 – moved out in November, and when I visited her I was delighted to see her fridge was packed full of healthy food. She knows what’s good for her and what’s not. Everyone deserves a treat – but we need to be more conscious of what we’re eating.
