Posh fears she can’t make David happy

As husband David is pictured giggling with supermodel Bella Hadid, pals say Posh is uncomfortable with the growing gulf between them

avid Beckham D was snapped looking happy and relaxed while chatting to supermodel Bella Hadid at a football match in Paris last week – in stark contrast to days earlier, when he and wife Victoria appeared stony-faced and distant during a stroll in New York.

And insiders tell Closer that Posh, 43, is becoming increasingly frustrated at how David, 42, appears all smiles when he’s in the company of other people, but never looks happy when they’re together in public.

NO AFFECTION

A source says, “Vic was left feeling gutted when she saw David laughing and joking with Bella. They’ve been so focused on work recently that she says it’s difficult to remember the last time they just sat and laughed together without having a tense conversation and getting into a row.

“David is rarely seen being affectionate with her in public and, with their hectic schedules constantly clashing, they always seem to be rushing to catch up. She knows this is part and parcel of married life when you’ve been together a long time and that she shouldn’t read into it, but sometimes she can’t help being bothered by it and the way it makes people talk.”

This isn’t the first time the fashion designer has been upset by David’s socialising.

Closer reported last year how the mum of four was left hurt and frustrated when the former footballer partied with model Poppy Delevingne, 32, Suki Waterhouse, 26, and Alexa Chung, 34, and was then pictured cosying up to singer Rita Ora, 27, in Cannes just a few months later. His close friendship with socialite and model Lady Mary Charteris, 30, has also led to tension between the couple.

A source says, “While she trusts David implicitly, seeing him pictured enjoying a laugh with other women still hurts because of the speculation it causes. David hangs out with a different crowd when he’s not with Vic and she’s made no secret of the fact she’s not a fan of all of his friends.

WORRIED

“Of course, she wishes she could always be fun and carefree, but it’s just not that easy when she’s so busy juggling the pressures of family life with work. It’s getting her down and she can’t help but worry she can’t make David happy.

“David reassures her that it’s not a competition, that she’s got nothing to worry about and that they have 18 years of marriage to fall back on, but she can’t help comparing herself to the other women he meets.”

The couple battled fresh rumours last year that their marriage was on the rocks – but they’ve continued to put on a united front amid the most recent claims of a fallout over David’s decision to invest in a football club in Miami, meaning yet more time apart.

And as reports emerged last week that Posh has decided to pull out of the much anticipated Spice Girls reunion, pals say her difficult decision was sparked by the need to focus on her relationship.

OVERWHELMED

A source adds, “Vic constantly feels stressed and overwhelmed by how many balls she’s juggling and she started to panic that a reunion tour would just add more pressure.

“She doesn’t want to disappoint fans, but she’s decided she has to put David and the kids first and put all her energy into her family and making her marriage work.”
