New fears for “lost” Sarah after boozy night out

As former alcoholic Sarah Harding is pictured on a wild night out, insiders say she is desperate to find love and kick-start her career

She said winning last year’s Celebrity Big Brother was the start of a new chapter, revealing she could “start afresh” and shake off her party girl image.

But Sarah Harding, 36, appeared to have performed a U-turn last week after she was pictured looking dishevelled as she left a party, stumbling in front of photographers. The photos even prompted fans to compare her to former alcoholic and cocaine addict Danniella Westbrook, taking to social media to beg her to “get the help she needs soon”.

Now a source close to the former Girls Aloud star – who has been single since her threemonth romance with Celebrity Big Brother housemate Chad Johnson crumbled in November – says she’s struggling after her triumph on CBB failed to kick-start her flagging career.

INSECURITIES

A source says, “Sarah’s had a real knock to her confidence, and it makes her turn to big nights out and boozing again. She’s feeling a bit lost – both with her career and the single life. She’s been on plenty of dates, but it never goes any further and that’s brought all her insecurities to the surface. She’d much rather be settled and starting a family, but as that’s not on her horizon, she throws herself into partying instead.”

Sarah has had a famously volatile relationship with booze and completed a stint in rehab back in 2011 – the same year she split from her former fiancé, DJ Tom Crane. At the time, she admitted, “I don’t want to be stuck with that drunken image… I am trying so hard. I want to be taken seriously. People have co-star labelled me a wild

child, and that’s fair enough, I was. But that’s just not who I am, really.”

Fans grew concerned for Sarah when she was in the CBB house after she broke down in the Diary Room, started aggressive arguments with housemates and behaved erratically after drinking. She then failed to show up for an appearance on spin-off show Bit On The Side in January, with fans speculating she’d been dropped at the last minute.

ONLINE DATING

The source adds, “Sarah seems to use going out as a distraction from her love life and career problems. She might even consider online dating, so she can try to meet someone ‘normal.’ She’s hoping that if she meets a downto-earth man, it will be the calming influence she craves.”
