Cheryl: “I’m scared for Bear if we split”
As speculation around Cheryl and Liam’s relationship continues to rage, pals say she’s fearful about their son’s future should the worst happen
She’s managed to S keep her oneyear-old son, Bear, out of the spotlight – giving fans rare glimpses of him with the odd snap on social media, but carefully controlling the pictures to ensure his face is never shown.
Now pals say Cheryl, 34, is worried this could be jeopardised if the worst happened and she split from her boyfriend Liam Payne, 24.
The pair have endured numerous rumours that their two-year relationship is on the rocks, with the Strip That Down singer recently admitting “we have our struggles.”
And pals say the former Girls Aloud star is concerned about the impact a break-up could have on Bear.
CONCERNED
A source says, “Of course, Cheryl wants things to work out with Liam, but she can’t help but worry what will happen if they do split. She’s concerned for Bear. Liam’s far more open about his private life and loves posting on social media, in contrast to Cheryl who’s notoriously private and has been critical of Liam when he’s talked openly about their relationship in the past.
“Liam’s so proud of Bear and he’s desperate to show him off. While of course he has Bear’s best interests at heart, he’s obviously different to Cheryl and although he understands her concerns, it saddens him that she prefers not to share any proper snaps of their son.
“As Liam has said publicly, it’s [his being so open] the subject of many of their rows, so she’s anxious that if they do break up, she may no longer be able to protect Bear’s privacy to to the same extent and that he will appear all over Liam’s social media pages.”
Liam has previously admitted Cheryl has told him off for oversharing about their relationship, saying, “I do get a bit overexcited sometimes. I’ll go home and she’ll say, ‘What did you say that for?’” Adding, “I’ll get a cheeky ribbing sometimes.”
During an interview in the US in February, Liam revealed he believes Bear talks to ghosts, saying, “I was lying in bed the other day and he was sitting on my knees. He started giving a speech to no one and was pointing his finger. You do wonder, ‘Are there ghosts in the room?’ because kids can see that.”
NEGATIVITY
And pals say Cheryl is worried that if they were to separate, Liam would continue to talk about Bear in interviews and reveal private details about him.
The source says, “The prospect is deeply upsetting for her as all she wants to do is protect Bear. She’s told friends that she’s scared that if the floodgates are open, it could expose him to all sorts of negativity, such as trolls and stalkers.
“She knows Liam adores his son and wouldn’t do anything to hurt either of them, but it’s been making her anxious and has added to her worries on top of all the recent speculation about their relationship.
“Cheryl hates the thought of Bear growing up being upset and is sad she can’t completely control what’s out there. She’s decided that, whatever happens, she’ll be honest with him and will never try to hide the truth.”
