Kylie: “Our lessons in love”

‘You have to remain hopeful’ KYLIE MINOGUE, 49

-

She split from S her 30-yearold fiancé Joshua Sasse in February 2017 after two years together, but it wasn’t until last week that Kylie Minogue finally spoke about her heartbreak.

The singer confessed that, in the immediate aftermath of the break-up, she spent six days in Thailand to recover. She said, “I just wanted to stop. I knew I needed to heal... my physical system was compromised. I think it’s called a nervous breakdown. I just thought, ‘No, no, no, no’.” But Kylie added that she’s a very practical person, and that “Thailand was an opportunity to reclaim myself, get strong and get going.”

It’s not the first time Kylie has been unlucky in love. She dated Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan, 49, for two years, before moving on to INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, with the pair splitting in 1991. Her three-year relationship with James Gooding in the early 2000s ended sourly after he cheated on the singer with model Sophie Dahl.

Kylie went on to date French actor Olivier Martinez, 52, for five years, and praised him for being her rock during her treatment for breast cancer. She later dated model Andrés Velencoso, 40, between 2008 and 2013, and even called him The One before their split.

Now, the star admits that people often think she’s been let down by love. She said, “I know people often like to paint me as a bit of a failure in that department, but maybe it’s not my destiny yet to have met The One. I don’t know that marriage is for me.”

But despite the heartbreak, Kylie’s not ready to give up and is staying positive. “You have to remain hopeful,” she says. “Even sometimes when you can’t find it, it has to be there.”
