‘We both like kissing each other’

Keith Lemon and Paddy Mcguinness, both 44, are back condensing iconic Hollywood films into mini-movies

- By Hannah Wright

How excited are you about doing series two of this (frankly ace) show? PADDY: Very, very excited. We were obviously very proud of the first series and we were totally blown away by how well it did. Now we’ve got a chance to do a second series and we feel like we really understand the show now so it’s really strong, I can’t wait for it to come on. KEITH: I’m as excited as someone who’s won tickets to Florida to watch the series finale of Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Which celeb were you most excited about getting to do a cameo with? KEITH: I was most excited about working with Patrick (i.e. Paddy Mcguinness), because I like how he giggles when I say the humorous things. PADDY: I think Keith is kind of right there, because while we’re fortunate enough to do different shows on TV, this one is a real passion project – and to be doing it together, we kind of have to pinch ourselves. We get the actors in to give it a bit of gravitas. Sarah Parish is in Top Gun, Philip Glenister’s in Pretty Woman and Jaime Winstone’s in Terminator 2. KEITH: And Nicole Scherzinger gave me a singing lesson for Grease. She was definitely giving me the eye. How do you go about getting the

celebs on board?

PADDY: It’s a two-pronged attack. One where we approach the agents, and another where we send Keith into loads of showbiz parties… KEITH: And I hate hanging around with good-looking people. Whose acting skills were you most surprised by? KEITH: Rick Astley. PADDY: He was really good; he plays T-1000 in Terminator 2. KEITH: Emma Willis is in Grease too [as a Pink Lady] – she’s fantastic. Who plays Vivian – the prostitute – in Pretty Woman? KEITH: Vivian is played by me and I loved playing a prostitute. PADDY: Let me jump in here. Keith is Vivian, but we have changed her profession. In our version, she is a traffic warden. I play Richard Gere’s Edward. KEITH: The love interest is always played by me or Patrick because we both like kissing each other. During filming are you quite good at keeping a straight face? PADDY: No! We are so unprofessional. That’s why when we have the professional actors in it gives us a little kick up the backside. What’s your favourite sketch from series two? PADDY: For me personally, I have this thing about Keith playing Tom Cruise’s Maverick in Top Gun. It’s just so funny. KEITH: What’s so funny? I do look a bit like him – like maybe if Tom Cruise hadn’t become Tom Cruise and was a normal man... PADDY: Before his Hollywood makeover.
