“We were born naked – so why bother with a bra?”
She burst on to our screens as a Big Brother housemate in 2008, with thenboyfriend Mario Marconi – and Lisa Appleton, 49, captured the hearts of the nation when she got engaged to him while in the house, though their marriage was short-lived. More recently, she’s been enjoying life in the spotlight again, thanks to her love of an eye-catching photo. Here, she tells us about some of her craziest moments, and says, “I’m always larking about… I’m very animated!”
‘I HAVE A RED CARPET OUTSIDE MY CARAVAN’
“This was taken shortly after I had £10k of surgery last year, including a face lift and lipo. I was cleaning bird poo off my caravan in Wales and larking about. I’ve got a red carpet because I’m an A-lister!”
‘KISSING DANNIELLA’S SON WAS JUST A BIT OF FUN’
“Danniella Westbrook and I have been friends for a couple of years. We went to Benidorm last year with her son, Kai, 21, and we all got on well. One day, after a few drinks, I said to Kai we should kiss for the paps as a bit of fun – and he agreed. But then he got upset as people sold stories that we were together. I’ve not seen them since.”
‘I’M MAD ON SAUSAGES’
“It’s no secret that I’m mad about sausages. When I was on benefits, I’d queue up in the supermarket when they were reduced to 30p. They’re so comforting and I love them with mash. This snap was in Blackpool last summer, after I’d been to a Scottish-themed do.”
‘I LOOK SEXIER WITHOUT A BRA!’
“I was on my way to a fancy dress party at a club in Manchester. The top had no back to it and I didn’t want my bra to show, so I didn’t wear one. I often don’t wear a bra – I think it looks sexier. Why do we always have to wear one? We were born naked. And why bother wearing knickers? It’s nice to breathe.”
‘I’LL MAKE UP WITH LAUREN’
“Lauren Harries and I were introduced by her agent last year. In September, Lauren booked us a spa day and it was lovely, so we decided to go to Benidorm together earlier this year. But there were a few incidents and we sadly fell out. One time, we were in a restaurant, and Lauren refused to pay for her salad as she’s vegan and they’d put an egg in it, so we argued about that. I’m sure we’ll make up one day.”
‘TRAFFIC CAME TO A STOP – EVERYONE WAS LOOKING!’
“I saw the pictures of model Emily Ratajkowski walking her dog in her undies and thought, ‘I’m going to do that.’ Everything stopped – the traffic was bumper to bumper, everyone was looking at me!”
‘I WAS DARED TO WEAR A BIKINI ON A ROUNDABOUT’
“This was last Christmas, at a friend’s house party. We played dares and mine was to wear a bikini and pose on the local roundabout. It was freezing, but we were all sloshed and had a right laugh! I’ve kept the bikini for next year – it was £28 from Ann Summers.”
‘I NEEDED A RELEASE AFTER SPLITTING WITH MARIO’
“When Mario and I split in 2013, I ended up living on benefits in a council flat. I was depressed and shut myself away. Then, in 2016, I decided I needed to start living my life again. I went to Blackpool that October to meet a friend and we had a few drinks. I thought I’d strip off and take all my demons out to sea – we were screaming with laughter, it was a massive release.”
‘THAT VIBRATOR WAS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!’
“A boutique in Blackpool called Saints & Sinners asked me to do some PR for them and gave me some outfits. There were zips on my nipples, so I thought I’d have a laugh and unzip them. But that vibrator’s absolutely ridiculous, it’s just too big – that’s what tickled me!”
