Mariah: “I’ve got so much energy after losing 2st”
The singer is feeling better than ever after slimming from a size 14 to an 8 – allegedly with the help of a gastric sleeve
Mariah Carey was all smiles as she showed off her incredible figure on a date with boyfriend Bryan Tanaka recently – amid reports she’s shed 2st since having a gastric sleeve fitted last October. And insiders say that after years of struggling with her weight, the superstar is bursting with confidence after going from a size 14 to a size 8 in just seven months.

A source says, “Mariah loves her body and says her confidence and energy on stage – and in the bedroom – have soared. She’s spent over £500K on sexy lingerie and swimwear and is considering baring all in a shoot.”
The 47 year old, who has varied between a size 8 and a 16, dropped 5st on the Jenny Craig diet plan – which involves eating pre-packaged meals – following the birth of twins Moroccan and Monroe in 2011, her children with ex-husband Nick Cannon.
But after years of yo-yoing, pals say Mariah – who has also reportedly undergone liposuction in the past – feels like she’s finally cracked it by having a gastric sleeve, which involves removing a section of the stomach.
The source says, “Mariah’s been sticking to 1,200 calories a day and has cut out sugar and processed foods. She starts the day with two poached eggs on a wholemeal muffin, followed by lunch of grilled white fish and salad, a boiled egg and 10 almonds as an afternoon snack. For dinner, she’ll have a homemade stir-fry with veg or grilled chicken. She still allows herself the odd treat and occasional glass of wine.”
BIPOLAR DISORDER
The singer – who was hospitalised in 2001 following a breakdown – recently spoke about her 17-year battle with bipolar disorder, admitting, “I lived in denial, isolation and constant fear someone would expose me. I sought and received treatment, I put positive people around me and I got back to doing what I love.”
And pals say Mariah has also credited her boyfriend Bryan, 35, for keeping her positive.
The source adds, “Bryan has really helped. She says she’s ‘the new and improved Mariah’ and is the happiest she’s been in years. Everyone’s so pleased for her.”
