With his chiselled jaw, ripped physique and cheeky sense W of humour, it’s no surprise that Chris Pratt is one of Hollywood’s hottest actors. He was also one half of Tinseltown’s most enduring couples, until shocking fans with last year’s announcement that he had split from his actress wife Anna Faris, 41 – with whom he has five-year-old son Jack – after eight years of marriage. He said at the time, “Divorce sucks. But at the end of the day, we’ve got a great kid who’s got two parents who love him very much.”

Now Chris, 38, is back in this summer’s biggest blockbuster, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and says son Jack was there with him every step of the way.

“Jack came to visit me on set,” smiles Chris. “He’s five-and-a-half now and being on set has become kind of old hat. To him, it’s just like anyone who went with their mom or dad to work. Putting a movie together can be very slow and monotonous, so you need to try to bring your kids to set on a day when there’s a big stunt going on or a big action sequence. Otherwise it’s a bit like watching paint dry!”

And Chris, who has been linked to actress Olivia Munn since his split, although she has denied the romance, admits Jack wasn’t scared by the terrifying dinosaurs. He adds, “Nah, I showed him Jaws when he was three – which is way too young, by the way – so this is nothing to him!”

Before he became a global pin-up, Chris has previously admitted that he was homeless and living out of a van while waiting tables at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. chain in the late ’90s before his big break in hit US sitcom Parks And Recreation.

And in order to play Star-lord in Guardians Of The Galaxy in 2014, 6ft 2 Chris lost a whopping 4½st in six months, completely transforming his body.

Now the star – who’s previously admitted to struggling with his weight – says he relishes being able to do his own stunts, but often ends up hurting himself in the process. He says, “I actually got hurt a lot making Jurassic World. I popped my elbow out, pulled both of my hamstrings and I did something to my heel. There were a lot of injuries, but I got through it with a lot of ice and ibuprofen – it was all worth it. This was the closest I will ever get to being a professional athlete, which is a big deal for me!”

And the actor, who is worth over £40million and also has a leading role in the Avengers franchise, admits he still can’t believe his luck.

“Yeah, I always knew [I would be famous]!” laughs Chris. “No, I never would have even dreamt it. No way. It’s a pretty rarified space to be in, so I’m feeling very blessed and overcome with joy right now. I still just keep pinching myself expecting it all to be a dream. Even now, when I am on set working, I’m like, ‘Don’t blow it and f**k it up!’ Because I feel like I’m about to get found out at any minute!”
